Shipping Destination Update - Post ID...

I did this store for a client: http://www.hmtan.com/store/
There are two shipping destinations available... "United States" and "Customer Pickup".

Should the cart automatically update the shipping cost when the user chooses a new shipping destination? The issue arises when a person selects another shipping destination then clicks the checkout button. Since they see the selection, they assume the pricing is correct for that selection.

Hiya Paul,

I see how that can be confusing and I would have to agree with you that it's a bit misleading because the Update button is in the upper part of the right side of the site. If the customer presses the shipping location then they need to click the update button to have it reload the selections with the correct pricing.

There are a lot of sites that do this so there should be no problems with the customers unless they are new or not so seasoned internet users, but most people realize that the prices should update and should look for the update button that are on most sites.

Thanks for the reply. I did that site with version 3.8. Now with 3.9 I did another site and found that it automatically updates the price when I change the shipping destination. Was this an addition in 3.9? If so, if I update the older site and template, will the issue be fixed?

The reason I'm asking and not just updating is because my client is out of state, and I will have to remote access there computer to update and make changes. I'd like confirmation that updating will fix the issue before I put them through the trouble of a remote access.

I would "think" so, but there's a good way to be sure. If you are the one that did the original shop site, then what you can do is upload the original shop to a test directory using the original version that you used for your client's site. This "should" upload and be the same exact way your client's shop site is including the shipping choice issue.

Once you do that, update that same test shop with the newer version and see what happens there. If that fixes the issue on your test site, then it should definitely fix the issue on the client's live site. Can't think of a better way to be sure since there haven't been any extreme detailed release notes for the newer versions so I'm not sure if that was a fix or if you are just having a fluke lol. Test it and see and let us know :)

You would add it no different then any other shipping method but instead of adding prices for shipping, you keep everything at $0.00
