I believe it creates both automatically. You upload everything to your site. You don't do anything with the xml file, as the search engines will automatically read it (You can submit that xml to Google Webmaster tools, though). You can place a link somewhere on your site to link the sitemap.html file for visitors to see your site structure.

This may be another one of my famous stupid questions.

But can I use one of the the 5 add-on pages in SCCP, label it "Sitemap" and when you open it up, whala!! There is my sitemape, the above mentioned .html file? Without clicking on a link.

no I don't think so, but... I do believe you could input the HTML code from the sitemap.html file into a page of the SCC programs using the HTML Tools? Just a thought :)

Jo Ann, I had actually thought about doing that but didn't have time to play around with that idea today. Any thoughts on how to go about doing that? Would you go to the sitemap, view the code and copy and paste that as html on a page in SCC? Or, since I can already navigate to my sitemap simply place a link to it on one (or all) of the pages of my site?
It's starting to become a little clearer..

Hiya Tim,

You would "attempt" (I say this because I haven't tried it, just a theory in my mind that it should work) to take the code only within the body tags without including the body tags (including the body tags might be fine too not sure). You may need to restructure it a bit if it doesn't fit in your page, maybe use a sitemapper theme that doesn't span horizontally in any way and just goes down vertically for ease of fitting on the shop's page.

Theoretically that should be all you really need to do. You might also need to take the css code for your sitemap's html and put it into your page, not sure how to incorporate that part, not sure if you can include a css link, never tried lol. I have seen a couple posts around that some people say you can include the head and body etc. tags in the HTML tool inserts so if that's the case then you might be able to include the link to the css file for the sitemap.

Guess I'll have to play with this when I get home from vacation.... *sighs* yes I'm leaving again for another week lol. This time it's vacation though, not taking care of mom! :P

Sure you can copy the code from the CC made sitemap into another page. It is nothing more than links, after all. And you can style those links any way you want. No need to get all theatrical over it. :P

Tom, how would you go about including the theme you purchased for the sitemapper in this manner?

Ok, I figured out a very easy way to put my sitemap on my shop. Navigate to the sitemap (in my case.. kimberlyconwaysart.com/sitemap.html) and (in Firefox) view page source then ctrl+a to select all and either right click on he highlighted text and select copy or simply ctrl+c. Then click on page view in SCCP and add a new page, titled sitemap, click insert html and paste the text from your page source. Save the shop, upload it and I have my sitemap. You can check it out from the main site.. http://kimberlyconwaysart.com/

Now I just have to play around with the appearance of the sitemap so it is more aesthetically pleasing (can't have an ugly sitemap on the same website as my wife's beautiful art!)

Thanks everyone for your help and hopefully someone else will find this information useful

Interesting, it put the pages in alphabetical order.

Have you tried your sitemap with one of the Themes that CC offers for sale ($3) ??

You wouldn't use the theme from Site Mapper. You would open the html and copy only the links and paste them into your shop page. The shop already has a theme.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
