In the pages section i inserted some HTML and now the dropdown menu falls behind the text and images.

Depending on what the html is determines what the proper course of action will be.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Hi John,
Looks like you could add some absolute positioning to the menu so you could apply a z-index.
Give this a try. You'll need to tweak a few things after you apply this to get your search box where it was.

I want you to try something else since it's your shop.
Take the html that you placed in your page and make a separate html page. Now save that and ftp it to your server.
Now code an iframe instead into your shops page then adjust the code to point to your html page.
