SCCP and SCDP - will these work with...
Hello Everyone,
I am contemplating buying the E-Commerce package for a friend, but one of the first things I need to know is if it will work with basic GoDaddy.com Linux hosted sites. It is also preferable that the S-Drive is not required - fewest dependencies.
Anyone know the answer?
Thanks!
Joe

Yep it will as long as it meets the requirements here:
http://www.coffeecup.com/help/articles/ … -software/
Always take the software for a trial run and you'll always be sure it works. Most every piece of software that CC has has a fully functional trial period (might be an exception or 2 on what is function, but not many aren't full versions). That way you can make sure they work on the servers etc as well as being sure that's the software you want to purchase too. After the fact, you'll just get answers like "you should have taken it for a trial run" lol, so better to do so than get that answer

I even got a SCCP shop with limited products to work on a free hosting package with 000web
But i do recollect there being a set up issue with godaddy, so if at first you dont succeed, talk to godaddy support they are aware of it

Thanks to everyone who responded.
BUT, I believe if CC sales were on top of their game, they would know and post this already, especially given the number of people who use GoDaddy. The fact that CC sales doesn't post this information is a big red flag.
I, as a paying customer, should not have to do this leg work for the major hosting services like GoDaddy.
So, my guess from the silence from CC is that these products will not work with GoDaddy and I need to take my fingers off my credit card.

First let me point to the link that I posted in my first post which includes a CC created article on their website. Notice the address for the link is here on CC's own website it's not something posted on someone elses site, so they "did" address the issue already as to what is required.
As for GoDaddy, all the programs work just fine, there are no hitches or glitches involved. If you follow the instructions, making sure your particular server meets the requirements (which is your responsibility not CC's, to make sure it meets it) then you'll be fine.
Other than that, as I said, you have a full trial version of both programs that you can test out for a full week (I believe it's a 7 day trial for those 2 programs). Within a matter of hours or less you can find out at no cost to you if the software will work with your particular chosen GoDaddy Account (there are various accounts so that's why you test it and make sure). Once you do that if you have problems you can always check with either GoDaddy or post here and someone may have an answer for you.
Most of the times it's user error that causes things not to work, and there's no problems connected with GoDaddy and these 2 software programs. Many people use them on GoDaddy without issues.
Other than that, this is a user to use forum, this is not the place for CC Support so if you don't get answers here from a CC employee that means they are busy doing other things. If you need support directly from them, that's what their support ticket system is for
I hope that clears up any thoughts of there being any hidden problems here that CC would intentionally hide as that's entirely not true.
DO keep in mind that servers change their systems constantly and that is why it is YOUR responsibility to make sure it will work on their systems, it's not the software company's responsibility. After all there are hundreds of thousands of servers people can upload these things to. There's no way any software company could determine if it will work on them all. The article I posted above gives you the exactly specs for the server that is needed. CC wrote that article up for that reason. From there you check your server to see if it meets the requirements. Not the other way around
Hope that helps, and have a great day!

I'm a way-passed-experienced engineer and have worked on a variety of servers for 25 years. Do not tell me what my responsibility is. Does CC want to make a sell to a new customer (revenue stream) or not?

The software works perfectly on Godaddy if you meet the server requirements to use it. The trial version is fully functional, so do take advantage of that and give it a test run and see if you like it. Because all servers are different, you really need to do this part yourself just to make sure. That is "your responsibility" as we cannot control how all servers on any hosting provider are configured.

Also, you are posting in a user forum. If you need information from the staff who work at CoffeeCup, always open a support ticket for that. This way you get an answer directly from us.

I use Go Daddy for all my sites including a SCCP, a form that sends emails and all done using CC Software. No compatibility issues at all.
