Well we have all been very patient, including myself, for several months since the completetion of SCC Pro was announced and we still have not had even a sniff of even an early version of the software.

Please sign the petition for all users who think that some fresh, accurate news should be issued to all loyal CC customers.

Whilst Coffeecup is under no obligation to build any new programs, a lot of people bought Cart Creator on the understanding that they would be able to get a more advanced version at some time in the future.

I had the first version of pro for evaluation in December of last year. Whilst it was a vast improvement, it had many practical shortfalls that made it unsuitable for deployment in most businesses. Rather than just push a poorly finished product through the door, the Coffeecup development team took on board the feedback of the test team (many of whom run online businesses) and radically altered the program, to reflect the needs of small businesses. That gave us version two in January which was a massive improvement. There were still a few buggy elements and a few minor tweaks requested which gave us the third version that we tested in February. Only someone from the Coffeecup team can tell you what has happened (or hasn't) since then.

Sadly the protracted development cycle and extensive delays meant many people (including myself) had to find alternative solutions to use, which is a real shame, as the pro version has great potential. :/

Much as I want SCC Pro, I consider the standard version well worth the investment in money and time spent populating my shop. If you've tried to create a facsimile of a cart with a website builder package you'll understand what I'm saying. I built www.universal-expressions.com using cuteSITEbuilder years ago. While I like the control I have over the site, lots of work. Parent-child relationships built one by one. While this allowed me to create as many sub-categories and depth as I needed, again lots of work and huge files. I had to break the site into many sub-directors just to save and load it. I had to add PayPal buttons to each item, one to select item to cart and another to view cart. If I wanted to know how many views I had to add a counter code snippet to each item. I use Google Analysis on the home page but it doesn't provide any depth detail. BTW, no inventory control or search feature with cuteSITEbuilder. Plus I had to insert a page for every item, no clicking on add an item.

If I could go back to last year when I bought SCC and knew that Pro would never be available, I'd still buy it and build my cart. SCC is awesome even in the standard version. Full disclosure, I have Flash Search and SCD Pro also, however, I doubt that I'm using the full potential of either. That said, I'll be a happy camper when SCC Pro is released.

My own initial interest in the current Cart Creator and the reason I became involved with it, was down to its 'click and pay' architecture. As a shopper I loathe sites where you have to give masses of details out in tedious web forms, just to get a shipping price. I use some extremely powerful ecommerce solutions both open source and commercial in my businesses, but none of them let you add items to the basket then go straight out to the payment provider.

Anything that zooms your customer through the checkout process before they have chance to change their minds, is always going to be a major advantage for any online enterprise. Converting browsers to buyers is after all what online commerce is all about. :P

Jewelcraft... looks like I will be looking to you for some boat maintenance and tips!!! Are you a boat blogger by any chance? As for the petition, how about if we sign up for something else now? Looks like this one is already "deprecated"...
:)
