That ones easy to refill. I hear that to much caffeine knocks the print head out alignment.:)

Yep I agree with Will, that's what I do with my labels, I print them on paper ( I go through the post office website to do my shipping stuff). The other thing you can do is print out one label for testing and check the size needed. Then go buy your labels, it doesn't matter what "type" of label, just a label.

Jo Ann, what Post Office shipping method are you referring to? The only thing that I have seen is the Postal Assistant which is software that you put on your computer. I was thinking of that route but it looks much more complicated than I want; the software owners manual is over 250 pages. Can't be all that easy. It just seems since all the shipping info is right there in PayPal (my merchant choice) that it would be a lot easier to use them.

If you go to the post office website http://www.usps.com there's a big section in the middle that says Print Postage, great big button in a sense. Click that and you're on your way to click n ship setups which also discounts your shipping costs when you do this online :)

Interesting Jo Ann.
It looks like it is only good for Priority and Express Mail. I am using mainly Parcel Post with Express as the second choice.

hmm I could swear there is an option for other package or something like that in the list when you give it all the information (weight, size etc.) other than the Priority and Express Mail options. Check again and make sure as I just sent a package out to my family that I didn't use Priority or Express Mail for.

Re all above.

I have printed on plain paper since I first started on eBay in 98. Most cost effective way I know of for a small operation of about 25 orders or so a day. Tape is not really as good as glue as suggested by Will. Avery makes a large 1-inch diameter white glue stick that works really well. You will only usually find them in a larger office supply store and not the drug store type places.

I print all my labels to a pdf file (I use PDF Creator). Quicker and and can be re-sized if needed when I print for placing on the packages. It takes me about 2-minutes to print, cut out, glue and attach a label to a package, so the time is not too bad for a few orders a day.

About the USPS Shipping Assistant software. I've used it for six or seven years and it really has become a decent piece of software. Don't get scared away because of the documentation. Need not be. I looked in there twice in the time I have used the software. Just follow the on-screen prompts and you should not have any trouble.

The Shipping Assistant will print any USPS label for any class of mail, including International First Class. Will print the number of labels/custom declarations for the class of mail you need, etc. You get the electronic discount price and not the retail price for Delivery Confirmation -- that includes Media Mail also. Take the package to the Post Office, ask (politely instruct - I have now been able to get all the clerks at my local post office trained -- you will run across retail clerks that lack full training and knowledge) them to scan the package label and it is already in the Post Office system with the Delivery Discount applied. If you have mis-weighted the package you will pay what the Post Office scales indicated.. The GREAT THING here is that this procedure will result in the USPS tracking system showing the package accepted for shipping at the Post Office and not just electronic shipping data received, which you get with PayPal, eBay, Endica, Stamps Com and etc. Shipping Confirmation without paying for it.......

No, I don't work for the Post Office. I despair of them often. I can only grit my teeth and marvel at the lack of training often exhibited. But, credit due where credit earned, they're done a pretty decent job with the software. By the way you can tie-in the software with an endica account if you so wish.

If I was again handling more than about 25 shipping orders a day, then I would likely opt for Stamps.com and use the USPS Scan Form for multiple packages (again, often a training session with the Post Office employees.......)

Just my - I guess more than 2 cents - opinion

lmao Eric, that's way funny, love it!

Thanks for the info TomH. I had that installed before my format earlier this month and I'll most likely reinstall it as I do recall it was a lot more versatile than working with the website was. Many more choices for shipping. :)

yes Tom, thank you for the good info. I do like the idea of printing with software made by the same people that are going to do the shipping and getting free shipping confirmation. Most of the people in my post office have been there for 20 years so I am hoping I do not have to train them on something I don't even know myself!! That would be disastrous.

haha you'll have to train them. I put a package on top of my mailbox about a week ago to be shipped. Had the paid label on it and everything and the mail lady came to my door at 7:30 am ringing my doorbell incessantly asking if this package is the one I needed her to take. After I said yes her next question is, "Did you already pay for the shipping?" LMAO I was flabbergasted, I couldn't believe my ears lol. The label was as clear as a bell that it was already paid and who it went to etc......

Trust me.... you'll have to train them no matter what method of shipping you use lol.

The station manager at my local post office is now three years from retirement. Two years ago I had to train him / explain what the Scan Form was and what it accomplished. How that happened? Lunch time and he was short handed due to a couple of people out sick and he was working the counter. Nice guy, we have coffee together on occasion, I have absolutely no problems about anything now at the station.
