Hi,
I am wondering if Shopping Cart Creator Pro has the ability to add an extra fee for a product option. An example would be an extra charge for metallic ink.
I have been looking through posts to see if this was answered somewhere and can't it. Sorry if it is a duplicate question.

Hiya Janette,
As long as that choice isn't something that has to be inventoried then yes you can easily do this using the Optional Fields setup. When you setup an Optional Field you can give the item a name and price and that price you put there is added to the price of the original product. In other words lets say you set up something like this as an optional field:
Field name being something like: Ink Style
And the contents of the Field would be:
Metallic Ink 2.00
Matt Ink 2.00
Raised Ink 4.00
etc.
(dunno what your inks are so I just made them up lol)
Then lets say you're talking about say a T-Shirt that sells for $10.00. If the person chooses Metallic Ink the shirt would then cost $12.00 or if they chose Raised Ink it would cost $14.00 for the shirt.
I believe you can add up to 5 optional fields per product, but not sure as it's been a while since I used it. You can also tell it to copy those fields from one product to the next so they are shared. Experiment with it a bit and see what it does. The best way to do this is to make a generic copy of your shop to play with the settings so you don't mess up your production shop. Then play with it and see how it works and how everything shows up on the purchase pages to the end.
The optional fields work pretty slick as long as you don't have to use them for inventorying items. There's where it loses its power as it can't separate the different options into different inventories so the product has 1 inventory. This means if you have things in different sizes (tangible inventory items) and they cost different for different sizes or bulk quantities etc. that you will not be able to use the inventory feature if you use the optional fields to specify the different choices. What most people do instead is create a totally separate product for each different size or quantity so it can be inventoried correctly.
Hope that helps.
