Opening an existing SCC shop in SCD -...

On the page describing SCD, this phrase appears "We also added a feature to Shopping Cart Creator Basic and Pro that allows you to open a theme directly in Shopping Cart Designer Pro. This is a great option for making quick changes to your design." How exactly do you do that? I'd like to be able to populate a theme (ie. make it a shop) and then be able to tweak it. And it seems this phrase says I can do just that.

But how?

If you come here and ask 'How do I use a jackhammer?', we might ask 'Why do you need to use a jackhammer'? If the answer is 'to knock my grandmother's head off to let out the evil spirits that gave her cancer', then maybe the problem is actually unrelated to jackhammers.

Hiya Big Daddy,

the part that says "changes to your design" is the key phrase here. You are not able to do a shop in the Designer, only alter the theme itself. The shop has to be populated and setup within the Cart Creator programs.

You can open a theme in the designer and tweak the theme properties, but the shop itself is a separate entity completely. All references to any actual text in the themes while within the Designer programs, is all generic references so you can't change anything like the names of pages, products, breadcrumbs, etc. in the Designer. Need the Creators for that. Hope that clarifies your issue and let us know if not. :)

Hmm. So I can create a design with Designer, then open the design from Creator with Designer? Er...huh?

I understand the differences between the two programs - Creator creates and populates the Shop/Cart, while Designer allows you to tweak the CSS.

But given that, what the heck does the phrase I referenced mean, then? And, how do you open the Shop/theme/design from Creator in Designer? I saw nothing in the app that allowed that.

with your shop open in SCC go to the themes tab and open it, your theme you are using will be highlighted

at the bottom of the field that opened up are three small (very small icons) click on the pencil icon

Now the SCD will open up for you to do your edits, once finished click on save, and when you return to SCC open the theme again, and click the tiny icon to refresh (NOT PENCIL) , and your changes will take place in your SCC

Repeat as often as you like till happy with it
