I would like to thank everyone for their support.
It is sorted!!

Here is my conclusion (especially for anyone in the UK).
Talk Talk Security must have been stopping me, we all have this
installed on our computers, it is part of the Talk Talk Broadband package.
I have it on 2 systems, and it is also running on Collins desktop.

The laptop I used for the successful upload does not have it installed.

Finally, the last server error. I fixed by changing shop/ CHMOD from 777 to 755

Thanks again, I can now slip back into retirement a happy bunny.

Wonderful! That is the #1 reason my computer will NEVER, EVER have a security program installed on it. They cause way too many problems.
