How does the Inventory Feature Work?...
First off, this is a very powerful, easy to use program and I will probably be moving from the Trial version to the Pro version in the next couple of days or so. Great job!
I have "kicked the tires" extensively (even set up a beta store) and have just about figured everything out except how the inventory feature works. When I click on the inventory button, what does this do?
Does this show the current inventory on the web site?
Another question I have is when setting up a product, on the More Options tab, under the SKU, in the Set text box, is this were I can update the web inventory based on what products I have on hand? For example, if the web site shows 1 on hand, and I get more of that product on hand, is this where I can update my actual inventory (in the Set box)?
Thank you much,

Dave,
Yes, when you click on the "Inventory" button, it syncs your store with your SCCP software to reflect what you really have in inventory after people make purchases on your site. It not only lets you know what you have, it deducts from your inventory ON YOUR SITE so that the customer knows what you have. In fact, when you are sold out, there will be a "Sold Out" sticker on the product page instead of a quantity. You must remember though to always click on this Inventory button to get this info. You wil not get it by simply Publishing your site.
As for the Set box, I believe you are right. This is where you would set your inventory on hand if you get in new supplies and need to update your site. And again, don't forget to click the Inventory button after you update these quanitities to update your site to reflect the new quantities.

Steve, thank you for your help...
What I am finding is that the inventory is not updating after I hit the Inventory button. I am going to my shop and adding items to my cart and the quantity is reduced on the web site just fine (I have set my Inventory option to deduct from inventory when transaction is attempted) but when I use the Inventory button, the items remaining is not changing. I can even get the Sold Out icon to appear when all the items are ordered.
I am running Windows VISTA (64-bit) Home Premium and I get no errors when I publish or use the Inventory button. Does anyone have any ideas why my inventory is not updating on my local system? I had the trial version installed but ordered the Pro version and installed that after I uninstalled the trial version....
Thank you much,

I am not sure what your problem would be. Are you Publishing after you do the Inventory button?
I will let the experts tackle this one.

There are a few things you need to verify
1. The proper URL is entered in the Your Shop > Inventory tab. I mean REALLY double check you did enter it correctly.
2. Make sure that your server has met all the minimum server requirements and that there are no server errors ( go to www.myshop.com/ccdata/php/servertest.php )
3. After you click Inventory, then click Save Shop or Publish.
That is all you need to do. The software will do the rest for ya.

Greetings,
I checked and double checked the URL's and the servertest.php shows everything is OK. When I click the inventory button I get the message in the attached file. Everything seems to be working and the quantity is reduced on the web site but the inventory is just not updating on my local system.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but same problem. I am really happy with the program but would like to get the inventory function to work.
Is there a file(s) that tracks the inventory locally that I can delete that the Shopping Cart will "regenerate"? Or are there files that I can delete on my system to force it to do a clean install? (I noticed that after I uninstall it it still brings up my shopping cart when I first start it). I have no problem starting over and re-doing the cart but it stills pulls up "old" data....I am stumped.
Thank you so much for your help,

David, can you send me an e-mail to scott@coffeecup.com with the username and password to access your transaction log please. I need to run a test.

Not a problem. I have the Inventory tracking set up to deduct an item when a transaction is attempted. Should this show up in the transaction log or do only items completely processed (paid for) supposed to show show up?
I will send you the information. Thanks for your help,

I just replied to you. I think the problem is you have not added any payment gateways to your shop. When the add to cart button is pressed, that is not what we consider an "attempted purchase". You need to try and may a payment with PayPal and then the inventory would be decremented.
