Where can I find the tab to set inventory? I imagine it is auto decrement and it will block the sale on zero stock. Cannot find any literature on this.
Thanks

Right now, there is no stock control built in to the program. You will need to keep a carefull eye on your stock, and remove the item when you run out. I have asked the same question, got the answer that I am passing along to you.

This is truly insane -- a shopping cart program that can't handle inventory is worthless. If I need to "keep an eye on" my stock to control inventory then I might as well open a physical store.

Sorry you feel that way. There are a lot of people that don't need inventory control, and for them the app is great. The good news for you is that we are working on a Pro version that will track inventory and perform some other tasks for more advanced users like you.

If you would be interested in beta testing the Pro version just let Scott know and we'll set you up. :)

I remember it was previously mentioned that stock quantities would be in a comming "update" to the cart program.

I am not really an "advanced" user -- actually, I am looking for something easier than Zen Cart to administer because I don't have that many items to sell. But, nothing I offer is available in infinite quantities, particularly since some items are classes which naturally have a physical limitation. Without inventory control it's impossible to realisitically offer items to customers without some "buying" items I cannot supply -- and that's bad for business.

Yes, we plan to add inventory management (or at least quantity tracking) in an upcoming release. We would love to hear your suggestions for how it should look and work. Your feedback is our most valuable design tool :)

The best way to be included in the beta is to contact Scott. Also, if you are a member of The Embassy you can find beta information posted there.

Of course there will be arguments for all sorts of 'stock control', but I believe it must be in the simplest sense.

One of the best things about this software is it's simplicity. I already run Zencart for myself and some of my clients. I (and they) want and need simple.

I suppose it could be done in modules:

Simple Stock control module... qty input and qty auto reduction
Advanced stock control module.. as above with store warnings and re-order levels

etc.

If it could be worked as a single page upload to update the stock levels even better, rather than uploading the whole kit and kaboodle.
