Have option choice deduct from...
Is there a way to have the option item deducted from inventory?
Here is the senerio we have Watch Bands for sell, and we have Watch Faces for sell. we aslo have the option to add a Watch face (Option Choice) to the Watch Band and get the Face at a reduced price.
The only problem is that when the Watch Face is purchased as an option with the Watch Band; the Watch Face item isn't deducted from inventory.
Is there a way to have it deducted when it is one of the options for another procuct?
eg
Purchase a watch band by it self and it is deducted from inventory.
Purchase a watch face by it self and it is deducted from inventory.
Purchase a watch band, and chose the watch face option, the watch band is deducted from inventory, but the watch face is not deducted from inventory.
Thanks
Danny

Hiya Danny,
At this time (not sure if future builds will bring us Optional Field inventory control, but we have definitely asked for it) there is no way to do what you want to do using options.
A work around that would work pretty nicely would be to add the optional areas as links to the products within your Product Details pages. Make a nice section same as it would be if they had to choose options, but instead of choosing one you list the different options with links to the products for them. Not a perfect solution, but I'm sure it would be just as sufficient and easy for your customers to be able to get what they need.
If you have specific sizing, types, etc. that work only with certain other pieces, include that information within each product and also when you list your other addon product links, call the Title of that paragraph (in bold etc.) something like.
These (insert type of product here) are created specifically to (fit, go with, etc) this product. Click the links below to see them (or however you want to word it so they know these items go with it specifically so they don't buy the wrong sized item etc.)
Not hard to do, easily copy and pasted from product to product (or you can actually copy the entire product itself and just edit the product details for it) and so on. Not too hard to do, just not as convenient as the Optional Fields are at this time.

Thanks Jo Ann:
I kind thought that was the case, but I had to ask.
Maybe in future builds there could be somehow to add a SKU field to the options list and this would tie the product to the options. or something like that. I'm not a coder so I don't know how difficult or easy it would be..
I think for now we will just udate the inventory manually since I have enough to learn as it is.
Been working in networking for 25+ years never thought I would be getting in to web site building this late in the game, but it keeps my mind active, and helps the wife have a place to sell her craft.
Now I got others asking if I will build them one, I might have opened a can of worms LOL.
Thanks
Danny
