Yes, I agree Peter. I dislike code. I have always used a WYSIWYG software to design my websites & cart. I agree that the editor could be more feature rich & remove the need to add code to get a desired result. But this is not what SCC is offering right now, but I have no doubt that they will get to it. In the meantime though, work arounds are needed. By the way, my idea worked. I just forgot to take into account that there were pictures on the left side that reduced the width I had to play with on my table. The table overflowed off the cart to the right, but it showed everything I created, graphics, tables formatting. I am wrapped at least.
You created your current website using some web design software, right. Just use it to create what I suggested as a second option and use it to create your spec pages. It is so simple to direct your customer to that page from the detailed description in SCC Pro. As simple as typing the address where the file is located on your server. You won't need a HTML editor, only SCC, SCD & whatever web design software you already have.
here is a snippet of code I found on this forum to direct my customers to a specific page on my website. This page has the full description of my product in more detail than I have on the shopping cart. What they see to click are the words 'full product description'
<a href="http://www.mystufforsale.com/files/holden_rear_seal.htm" target="_blank">full product description</a>
When added SCC adds 3 brackets to the front & rear of this code. All you need to do is change the references & paste the snippet where you want it. That's as hard as it gets.
Unfortunately as you say, should you wish to customise your description page by formatting the text differently, then you have to add HTML code to do this as the text editor does not do it, as you well know.
Cheers

Well, we've had posters like the original before on this forum.
They want the bells, whistles, cake, frosting and all - on one plate.
I'm thinking that if CC made an all inclusive program it might cost 3 - 4 -5 times more then buying the individual programs that are needed - when needed.
That's what I like about CC's style of making and selling web design programs, I don't HAVE to buy what I don't need.
CC makes a program very good for what it's intended for, and if a person needs something else, CC has that to.
I'm not a coder either, but the last couple sites I've built, I've used VSD using HTML and css3 to format the text, VSD let's me make the graphic design how I want it, the coding let's me style and control the text like I want it. With websites like w3schools.com, it's not that hard to get on this road.
CC crew, keep up the good work. There are those of us on this forum that have you back.

I don't expect all the bells and whistles just the basics I've mentioned. This post was not intended as a criticism just an opinion of its failings on the whole I like the software no need to create pages integrated PayPal express check out inventory management and all the rest. Just I would have expected more flexibility I agree for the price the software is good value just a bit clunky as it stands if there was better integration between packages like the ability to export your shop into VSD for final polishing for those who need it would improve it no end. After all it is intended for end users not web designers or have I got it wrong.
I would say any end user of CC's software is a web designer.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

My cart is not linked to my site yet, but is at http://obglass.com . A few of the main issues right now are:
- I want to show "list of categories" ("show category names") on Shop Home, and I'd like to be able to hyperlink the photos as well as the "category name" to let customers go into each category. Presently, only the "category" TEXT will take you to the sub-categories, not the PHOTO. At the same time, BOTH the text and photos for sub-categories and products will let a customer go to the next step. Why the difference?
- I like the ability to have multiple photos in "product description" - however, it would be much more useful to me to be able to add some kind of text to each photo - identifying, for instance, various colors, color patterns, etc. that each product is available in.
- I tried the "options" feature for products. The concept is great - I sell a lot of things in various sizes. But with the way the various prices appear in the cart, it has confused every single person I've had trial the shopping cart. I'd like to be able to change the column headings and the order of the columns - I don't feel the "options" option is functional at all for me for anything other than "zero-value" options:
- I think it would be much more clear to have the option "description" and "price difference" into separate columns, with an appropriate header for each
- the headers (titles) themselves seem awfully misleading - I'd like to call the base price of an item as something like "base price" rather than "price"
- I'd like to title the full item price, with option, as something like "full price" or "unit price" or something, rather than "subtotal".
- I'd like to see the column for "quantity" appear only AFTER (to the right of) the above columns, especially since the "subtotal" column is the only value that changes with changes in quantity
I was hoping that issues as described above could be changed in SCDP, but, of course, they can't (that I know of). Is there something with HTML that could change any of them?
I use a program from Incomedia for the rest of my website, and most everything I mention above is customizable. I can easily add hypertext to any photos, text, etc. that I want, and can add text to appear with any photo, etc. It's shopping cart has one, single but major flaw that totally prevents it from being useful to me - it's not capable of handling more than one, single shipping charge.
SCCP was exciting to come across in that it gave me everything I didn't have, but it did that at the price of sacrificing some of the flexibility I'd gotten used to. And with what I CAN do with the other software - entirely on it's own - it just doesn't seem that it should be necessary to use outside software to accomplish what I want in SCCP, as has been mentioned in other posts.

Peter - have you tried doing that in either MS Word/Office or OpenOffice as I suggested? I looked at what you posted on that jpg and am convinced that it should take you just minutes to get the same result by creating the list/table in one of those programs and exporting to .html then paste code into the editor.
Living the dream, stocking the cream

yes I know I can do that but my point is I should be able to create a simple block of text as illustrated in the SCCpro text editor without having to resort to using an outside application, plus if I ever wanted to edit the description I would have to copy the html from SCCpro edit it in a html editor them paste it back into SCC pro. Talk about going via the scenic route.
you have to admit it would be alot simpler to edit it SCCpro and avoid any mistakes
