Got an email from HostGator letting me know that they were updating to PHP 5.4 on all servers. So if you use SCCP on HostGator this Knowledge Base article will let you know how to make your cart work correctly.

The only drawback is you will have to modify the "config.inc.php" every time you upload changes to your shop.
An alternative is to log into your HostGator cPanel and change to an older version of PHP from there. Then you will not have to edit the "config.inc.php" file on every upload.
