export to .csv feature
I'm trying to use the export to .csv feature to export product info from my shop to .csv file. The dialogue from the blue info button states "browse your computer for the shop file you want to export.....". However, when I click 'browse' the program looks for a .csv file to load. I can't find an existing .csv file in my shop files. I thought this feature was going to create one from my shop files and export it. Am I missing something?
When I click the 'more information' link on the info box, it takes me to an article about importing .csv files into the program, rather than to one about exporting a .csv file from the program. I searched the knowledge base and program help files but can find nothing about exporting .csv from the shop, just about importing .csv into the shop.

All you need to do to export your shop to a .csv file is go to the File Menu and select Export to .csv Then on the next dialog, press the little yellow folder icon, type in a name you want to give your .csv file and you are all set. If you look at the dialog, it does not say load anywhere, it says "save".

Thanks Scott, that 'was' easy, and makes sense for an export feature. I ought to have ignored the help dialogue on the export feature, which is not very clear. Perhaps, where it says "browse your computer for the shop file you want to export...", the text might be changed to something like 'select a location and type in a name for the .csv file.....' or somesuch.
can products to be added to the .csv file you export from your shop? I ask because we have 2 shops with tons of products, would be nice to be able to add to a shops .csv and then import back in.
thanks
thanks

Not right now. You can start a new shop by importing from a .csv but you cannot import more products to an existing shop from a .csv
We are actually discussing this internally to see if this is something we can do in a later update.

excellent thank you

Can the import feature be used to update items that already exist? This seemed likely based on the pro/non-pro comparison matrix listed on the products page. I was hoping to use this feature to update my items quantity and available options.
Yes, you can update items that already exist. I have tried this by creating a .csv file containing three columns: sku, storeunits and retailprice. Once imported it successfully updated the price and inventory of the products.
Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
