We have been waiting for this coupon feature that is supposed to be in version 4. I did some research on the forum and from what I can find version 4, which was supposed to have this feature, was supposed to be out in late 2011 (based on a reply from Scott)

Since we are moving into 2013 the question begs, is version 4 even coming out?

The frustration is that we have a business strategy which requires a coupon, discount code, membership card or whatever you want to call it. Without this feature we are regulated to placing only a few items verses our entire inventory in our store.

I just downloaded this software to test it out and didn't even realize it didn't have this feature, I assumed all shopping carts had this feature because it's a big part of business. I'll be waiting for a response before purchasing.

We have used it for a couple years now and generally like the application. My post was not intended to be negative. We just need to know what the strategy is because it does/has hurt us to some degree in our store. I don't know how other folks are dealing with special discounts/member card etc. Maybe someone else has a work around?

Sorry to seem naive but what is this 'coupon feature' and what does it do ?

You would send out emails or have an Easter egg hunt where users would receive a code that they could enter to get a discount on their purchase.

Thanks for the info ShopTom.. We ended up going with a different Shop System. They have a very easy to use interface and customizable styles so we can change the styles to match our site. We are working on the conversion now. They have a very robust feature set for the price. Just wish Coffee Cup had the discount codes but we just can't wait any longer.
