Forgive me if this has already been discussed, but can I delete the "categories" page? I want the categories, I just don't see why I would have a page listing the categories when the categories are already in the left menu.
Thanks!
Thanks!
No, you cannot delete the 4 primary pages. You can rename them to something else, but they cannot be removed.

Kevin,
You can rename the page, go to the setting in Shop setup/pages and set the Catagories to "Don't show anything". This will take all products off your page thus giving you a blank page to use as your own page, About, Contact, etc.

This seems like it has potential. Thanks for pointing it out, but what happens to your top layer of categories in your nav bar? Where you have "Categories" with either drop-down menus, or expanded categories, wouldn't the name of that then be "About Me" or "Contact Us", or whatever you change your page name to?
Only if that is the exact page you changed the name to.
So you want to make sure you have the right page before you change the name, although it is simple to "Undo".
In my personal opinion, Categories is not the page a person should change. I would leave it alone. On my site I simply changed the name to something more appropriate, like Products.
But this "Trick" works good for the other page titles.

I too am having this problem. I plan to list my categories on my shop home page, with a sample photo of an item in that category. Hope that works, as I am changing the 'category' name. I really don't understand why we need a page for categories...

That is because everything must belong to a category.

I understand that we need categories. But what purpose is a separate page for them if you only have 5-6 categories. If I put one featured item on the shop home page, will it have a link to the page for the rest of the items in that category?
