Just purchased and getting my head around how things work, using and modifying the stock "Deep Red" Theme. So wondered if there is any way to have additional web pages appear in the main menu, rather than drop down sub categories of "Shop Home"? I have Designer Pro, but cannot see any way to achieve this.

Or can this only be built by making up a vertical menu on the left hand side of the page? And then adding custom graphics to all the links?

Thanks

Best way of making extra pages , if for long winded explanations of services projects etc, is to incorporate SCCP with visual site designer (for novices) or html editor (for advanced users)

Choose a template that appears in both programs for a perfect match

Dont use any of the extra pages in SCCP

and link home in SCCP to vsd, and convert shop home name to another title name.

If you look in SCCP your shop::general & pages, you will see how to do it, its designed to do what you want

your individual pages in VSD are easier to set up with different key words and titles to make it more google frienly.

Hi Viv and thanks for that. I actually use NetObjects Fusion for web page design etc, so I am working the other way on the present client's site; bringing the existing banner into SCCP as a "logo" to get it to display full page width etc and making the colours match.

I have also found that by using "padding" in SCCP I can make pages 960 pixels wide, so am now making the main site pages to that size too. I have a DTP background so like my web pages to appear like "normal" print pages! :) I will be able to make things match quite well in the end, so that the transfer from the main site to the cart is as seamless as possible.

By way of interest, the main draft site is at http://www.nigelhallard.com and the draft SCCP cart is at http://www.nigelhallard.com/gallery/

So getting there slowly! :)

Why dont you use the blank SCCP template with navigation on left

Use your header as the logo ALL done in SCDP

And put dummy buttons underneath the actual links, like i have done here (cc might remove as wrong place to put links in here)

its an image with a background section at top where the links are, but your buttons are closer together and i think you will be able to put the buttons behind the links as well

Hi again Viv,
And thanks for the input and suggestion.
>>Why dont you use the blank SCCP template with navigation on left<<

Yes I have experimented a bit with this, which is why I mentioned using the left hand navigation in my post. I just wanted to know if it was possible to add extra menus to a horizontal menu bar.

In my initial experiments with the blank template, I was not able to get my white page background to extend below the menu area. You have solved this by having the same background and page colour all over; not something I want to do really.

I only bought Designer Pro and Cart Pro yesterday, so will continue with various ideas. As the cart in my first site using SCCP (I use the more sophisticated Prestashop elsewhere, but it's way overkill for some sites) and only part of the main site, it may be better to keep all extra content outside the cart itself, where I have much more control over things.
