Adding Images to Static Pages - Post...

I apologize, as I know this topic has been covered before, but 1. the program has been updated and 2. I can't get anything to work! To state the obvious, I am very bad at writing html and I understand only a few basic html tags. I know that adding all the variables of file location ups the # of places where mistakes can happen so I have tried to be careful.
This probably is quite simple or seems very obvious to most of you, so please bear with me, I am pretty dense and have little aptitude for this. I have been working on this for hours....

My shop is created with SCCPro and hosted on SDrive. I am trying to add photos to my Home and other non product pages. It would be ideal if they could be centered where I place them on the page. I don't want or need to do anything fancier than that!
I tried Rolly's colorbox code from his sample site, as well as some other code examples I found and could not get one thing to work. I tried every combo I could think of in each variable part of the code.

My photo formatting program is saving my images as " photo.JPG " not " photo.jpg " . Could the caps of JPG be breaking a link? I just noticed that I can change that to lower case once they are uploaded, so I will do that in the future.
I have been using the html tool.

My photos are uploaded to my storage tab on s drive. So for the file location I have been using the address as it shows when I mouseover 'download' in the lower left bar below the page:

http://www.mywebsitename.com/storage/photoname.jpg
[ or JPG as a variant because I know that jpg and JPG will be read as two different files ]

Is there any way to put this into simple code that I can use to place a few pix?
I profusely thank anyone with the patience to help me with this. In advance :D

Hiya Norma,

To add a few pics that you want centered just open the HTML Tool within the program, add the link to your image similar to what you have above, make sure that the jpg case caps/lower case matches the link and image the same, and then add this around it:

<center>imagelinkhere</center>

That will center your image and when you are done it should show up on in the program as
[[[<center>imagelinkhere</center>]]]

Hope that helps :)

Thanks for trying Jo Ann. I have been using the html tool. I guess I am not using the right address because I can't get it to work, centered or not, I can't get any pix to load. I tried another pic thinking there might be something wrong with the one I was using. No dice.

I have been matching to lower case exactly. So it must be the sdrive link address that I am just not getting right, even though I have used it exactly from the lower bar on mouseover as stated.

I have used :
"http://lolcostumejewelry.com/storage/photoname.jpg" with or without "...."

I have seen other file paths suggested and have tried them, like :

#### being your unique dashboard number

or "http://lolcostumejewelry.com/sdrive/dashboard/####/storage/images/photoname.jpg"

The closest I came was :

<a=href=><img src="http://lolcostumejewlery.com/storage/pheasantpin.jpg" alt="pheasant pin"/>

For the life of me, the page said only: " pheasant pin "

Like I said I just don't know enough to get this done. I bet I have tried .... I guess I better not say how many times :(
Thanks for trying though.

What is the actual url to your shop so I can see it?
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Hi Rolly,

Its lolcostumejewelry.com

I have been trying adding the pix in a second, much smaller shop that I am working on, because I am afraid to mess up what I have done so far on the other one ~ and because the smaller shop loads a preview so much faster.

Norma, I hope you won't mind me mentioning this but as a jewellery manufacturer myself selling my products with CC SCCP I found over the 5 years i have sold via internet that bigger thumbnails has resulted in more sales.

Public are a little lazy if they have to click to view a bigger picture to get a good idea from a page full of products they don't bother.

With SCDP its possible to tweak those images up some in size and make them instantly clear, and spaces them across page, my shop is in my signature. Viv

Viv, Thanks for pointing that out, we all need to improve where we can. Jewelry ~ of course, you know every category ~ including vintage costume jewelry is very competitive, so feel free to comment! I have admired your jewelry pix several times prior to this.
I have been going blind with improvements and maxing out what I am capable of brain wise. So its sometimes easy to overlook the obvious. :|
I am sure that I am just missing something right in plain sight on some of these issues. I thought I might have to go into hiding from CCSupport earlier this week; they might ask to give me an aptitude test before they sell more software to me ;)

I had noticed that in some of my pix there is quite a bit of white area around the thumbnail. Maybe I am sizing them down to too small a size when I edit them? Is that how you manage such large pix without distortion? I will play with that tomorrow, THX. Many of my pix were originally formatted for another venue.

I also could use a better lens, 60 or 100 mm for these close up shots but I have not afforded one yet. Someday soon.

Rolly, THX for the encouragement, I will keep trying any suggestions. I really think that problem is in the file path for sdrive. I am just not getting it right. But I will leave that for tomorrow as I have stared a hole though this machine today.

Thanks all for all your help & support! CC sure has some great people using their wares!

Norma, re CC SCDP " i'l hide from CC" and those pictures the cart reduces them to fit, mine are about 500 x 500 when i add them, a free trial of SCDP will sort it without purchase, just download it when you have time to actually use it.
If you get really stuck on that one, I have free phone calls to USA, so i could talk you through it late one evening UK time.
Also in break room i have a thread re a product i need a home for in USA , might be of interest to you as it will fit nicely into your gents section. AVAILABLE FOR A CC SCC USER only ;) like you.

Hi Viv,

I have SCDP and have been working with that today. This week I will republish and see about those thumbnails, I do think I have increased the sizes. Thank you for the fresh eye ~ it always helps to have a keen look from another persepective. Its a very valid point.

I have not made any progress on the original post re adding pages. I may put in a support ticket after doing some further reading this week.

On the 'strange request' threas I will email as you suggest from the delorean site. Glad to read that you don't have nailheads in your skull:D Looks painful!
