Hello, I have been asked to set up an online cart for my sisters' florist shop and have a few questions being a complete novice, I hope the CC family can help me. Here goes,

1. Is it possible to put a form on a separate page for delivery info and enclosure card message that would be emailed to her probably separate from the payment gateway.

2. Would it be possible to extract the zip code from the above form and get a delivery charge from a database and add it into the carts (shipping/delivery) charge.

I am sure I will have many more questions, So THANK YOU in advance.

Hi David. Putting a form on a separate page is very easy to implement. You can set up forms to send a complementary copy of the email to the person that filled in the forms too, all that is straightforward.

Extracting the zip code from a form field, would mean setting up a separate database on your site to automatically create the data for the shipping calculation. The current set up of Cart Creator would just not be secure enough in its current format to allow you to store sensitive customer data in that way. You have to remember that from the outset Cart Creator has never been designed to capture and store customer data, as it is an 'instant pay' cart.

It could be that future versions of Cart Creator may be able to utilise the S drive for data capture as well as offer other advanced features, but as the Coffeecup team have already stated, there will be a monthly charge for using the advanced features of S drive.

Thanks Will Uk,
I will read the the help file and figure out how to put the form on the site but in regards to the zip code database I would not be storing any customer info. I would just have a zip code and a delivery charge. When the customer fills out the form for the delivery address it would just take the zip code and get the delivery charge and add it to the cart. The form would only have a name, address and enclosure card message for the person getting the product. If that makes any sense.:/

Hiya David,

The cart software isn't able to interact with external programs or scripts in that way. Adding the form to the site is not a problem, but the cart has it's own setup for storing and creating delivery charges internally and needs to be setup that way. Any forms (which it sounds like you're already aware of) that you add to your pages will be separate entities completely.

Thank You Jo Ann & Will,
I will just have to setup the form for the delivery and enclosure card info and setup the delivery charge in the cart and have the customer choose the town for delivery. One other quick question (for now) is there any way to change the wording in the cart from shipping to delivery?

Thanks Again,

Hiya David,

Again that answer is no. That's also something others have been asking for is ways to alter some of the hard coded buttons and wording. Hopefully we'll see some of that in the future, but you never know :)

Well I guess it will have to stay as shipping.
Thank You Jo Ann
