Adding "counter" to Shophome?

Hi,

I'm tasked with adding a counter to the Shophome page of our site, www.fsportswear.com. I know exactly where to paste the necessary in for it to appear on just the Shophome page (using the pages view in SCCP), but what I need to do is add the counter to just the footer on the Shophome page. If I add it using the "Your Shop" feature, it adds it to every page, and then the counter is off because every page registers a hit.

this is the code I need to put in the Shophome footer....

<a href="http://www.reliablecounter.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.reliablecounter.com/count.php?page=www.fsportswear,com&digit=style/sports/1/&reloads=0" alt="" title="" border="0"></a><br /><a href="http://www.fabbly.com" target="_blank" style="font-family: Geneva, Arial; font-size: 9px; color: #330010; text-decoration: none;">free 3d models</a>

how can I do this?

Thanks

Did you try adding it to the footer section of your shop? I believe you can get to that area in the Shop Tools options of the cart. Am not able to fire it up at the moment, but search around in the Shop Tools and you should find the Header, Footer sections in there that you can edit.

oh duh thanks Steve, my bad I wasn't thinking lol.

Hmm, I would think you could add scripts to your page itself. It's been a bit since I created a shop, but have you tried adding it to the page? You would need to put it between triple square brackets such as:

[[[<script here>]]]

Try that and see if that will work and let us know. :)

Would I put that in the page after it's published Jo Ann? Or can I put that exact thing that I pasted inside the triple brackets, so it only shows up on the homepage. I think I've figured out a way, by pasting it in the "pages" section, but I think it will still register another page hit if someone goes back to that page while they are inside the website.

That's a setting you have to put in the Stats Counter. When generating the code select unique visitor then it will only count them once per day, it has nothing at all to do with SCCP from that point.

the code is something I copied and pasted from a site that offers a bunch of different counters....how would I alter the html code that is generated by SCCP, since it only exports PHP...even though I'm choosing "export shop for upload". I want to put the counter in footer section of just that page, and I fooled around with a testing version of the site I have on my WAMP server, and was able to do that. So what I'd like to do is paste that code into the correct spot in a version that will go live. Sorry, I'm a novice at HTML...but I've figured out how to do get it where I want it.

Just remember that every time you update your shop you will have to repaste that code onto the page again. Not that much of a hassle if you don't update your shop on a constant basis, but it may also play havoc with the count total so you may have to set the count total to start at a specific number (copy down the number it is when you're updating and set it to that so it starts there, do this each time you update).

Might be easier to just find a spot on the main content area of the page and put it there. You can easily setup a nice box using HTML to put the counter into as well to make it nice and separate from the rest of the content of the page. That would be the most efficient way to do it anyways. I'm not sure how the upload of the shop for updates will affect it whether it's on the content or the footer, I guess you'll have to play with it and see. :)

From my experience with SCCP you are going to have a heck of a time trying to put it in the footer... the application was just not meant for custom footers for each page. Jo Anne is offering excellent advice, I would make a spot for it on the main content area.
