2Checkout vs Googlecheckout & Paypal....

I have been looking at 2checkout recently to add to my site, I already have Paypal & Googlecheckout, but I've not heard much of 2CO, having been online I have heard mixed reviews of this service (saying that, that's the same with paypal too).
I was wondering if anyone on here uses 2CO and is it worth making an account with them, and for those who have used them, have they seen an increase in sales?
Thanks in advance.

I used 2checkout years ago when I was selling software.

They both take payments on their secured servers and return the customer to your site after the sale. 2checkout emails would state the sale didn't pass the fraud check sometime but I still got paid. They hold money for some time before transferring to your account to protect buyers but it's automatic, unlike PayPal.

They state you don't have to pay local taxes since they are the retailer and you are their supplier but I paid local taxes anyway because I didn't want to tell the tax man "but 2checkout said...".

They switched over to a new system years ago and I stopped actively using their service and now I can't log into my account. I think they deactivated my account, which is no big deal because I use PayPal now.

I don't really see an advantage with 2checkout. I don't know if the rates are comparable today but I imagine they are. PayPal is huge. Many sites that accept credit card for on-site processing also accept PayPal payments. I haven't seen one that uses any other as an alternative.

Thanks so much for the reply Tom, sorry I am late getting back to you as I didn't get an email through saying a reply had been made. I don't think I will bother with 2checkout seeing as I have paypal & google checkout on my store, it was just a thought to offer customers some more options.

Thanks again.

You're welcome. I think you will do fine with those two. :)

Some people feel that PP iamateurishsh and direct processing on your site is more professional. I say, unless you are a huge well known vendor, that is hogwash. If I want to order something from your site and you are not huge like Amazon or Walmart, I will always choose the PayPal option over direct CC processing.

I don't want every mom and pop shop on the planet having my CC details. And it's not necessarily you I am worried about. It's my info stored on your server for hackers to get at. Yes, my CC has been hacked on occasion and it could have been anybody, the local restaurant for instance, but it's a pain to report and get issued new cards - so why not minimize the chances?

I heart PayPal.

Tom - I'm with you on using PP for smaller "unknown" storefronts on the web -vs- Big Box sites. BUT, technically speaking, in the US at least, ALL vendors accepting credit cards from their customers MUST adhere to PCI Compliance standards. And while I don't remember all of the details of it (the lady explaining it to me last year was rambling a bit) there are tight restrictions on what info may be stored, how it is stored, how it is transmitted, etc... I did find the "Official Site" but since I no longer swipe cards (just use PP to receive payments), I ain't likely to read through it myself :D

I have briefly read over that info. My concern isn't the standard, it's people always complying with the standard. :)
