Downgrade theme to Shopping Cart Basic is an available option,
Upgrade theme to Shopping cart Pro is grayed out.

I chose downgrade and saved it, then was able to chose Upgrade and change the name to testpro1.
Once saved I got a hooray screen.

Back to SSC Pro to import. No change

I would suggest watching the video I made. It shows the entire process of importing a theme, making changes and exporting it to SCC.

If upgrading a theme is shaded out, that means it is already a "pro" theme.

A .CCT file can only be used by our HTML Editor 2010SE program. It cannot be used with any other program.

Remember that any themes made in Shopping Cart Designer Pro are by default made for Shopping Cart Creator Pro. If you want to be able to see them in Shopping Cart Creator (Basic) you need to go to the File Menu and select "Downgrade theme for Shopping Cart Creator Basic. If you want to use a SCD Basic theme in SCC Pro, you need to go to the File Menu and select Upgrade Theme for Shopping Cart Creator Pro. The themes then will always be stored in the Documents\CoffeeCup Software\Shopping Cart Creator\Themes folder

A .SCP is a theme package that we sell. It then extracts the .SCT file to the appropriate location. When you export a theme from SCD it will export the SCT file. The file types are not interchangeable. Once you install a theme package, you never need to install it again. In SCC or SCD you just select the theme from the theme chooser.

Watch this video here.

I'm having this problem, too, and I cannot follow what you have been explaining to do.

In Shopping Cart Designer Pro, it looks like all the themes - including whatever I've edited - have an "sct" extension, whether I use the "save as" function or the "export to shopping cart creator" function. I can't find any way whatsoever to create anything other than "sct" extensions.

In opening or importing any themes in Shopping Cart Creator Pro, it seems to recognize only files with an "scp" extension. I can't find a way whatsoever to open anything other than files with "scp" extensions.

The video that you gave is too small - on an 18" monitor - to see any actual characters, so I can't tell what's being done.

I see a lot of references in these posts to "plain" vs. "pro" versions - shouldn't the pro version of these two be compatible with each other? This seems to be too common a problem for me to be doing something wrong.

Wait a minute - I just figured it out.

You actually DON'T use the import function of the Shopping Cart Creator Pro to accomplish this??? Apparently not, since I found the file from Shopping Cart Designer Pro under the "Themes" tab.

It seems that the "import" function is awfully misleading, then - and is bound to be a problem for all sorts of people.

I am going to have to disagree with you on that one. It is rarely a support question at all. ;)

A .SCT file is your shop file that you open in Shopping Cart Creator. An .SCP file is your theme file. To install it, simply double click the file and it will automatically install. You can also do this from the Themes dialog as well.

I have downloaded the free offer Deep Red theme for HTML Editor. How is this file utilized? Where do I put it?
