Name change problem

I have a client's new site on a xxxx.coffeecup account (s-drive). We want to use her existing url but can't access the hosting panel to do the name change.
The original designer requested we not bother him for public info (he will bill us for answering questions about the existing account).
But the 'public info' (on who is) doesn't get us to the actual account since we don't have log-in names or passwords. And, we can't do anything about the old site either, like delete all the files from the server.

Now the designer has started the transfer process (for a $65 fee) ?????? We still have no info at all!
He says we should be able to have our host set up the new account.

So – Do I just go to the s-drive acct. > settings and type the xxxx.com name in?
(I need to get some more email info/advice before I try this, though)

By the way, he finally gave us the info for her email account (another invoice $$), but the log-in and password don't work. It's costing a lot of money to get nothing usable from this ....person

Too bad we didn't know about the CC Domains sooner, she just registered a bunch of names a few days before the CC announcement. So we have some alternates if we can't use her existing url, but she really would like to continue using the name she's built her business on.

What a mess.

Until the transfer is complete, there isn't anything you can do on the S-Drive side. Once the transfer is complete, you can update the DNS for that domain and point it over to your S-Drive account. When that happens, you can then update your S-Drive account and associate the domain with it.

If her name is on the existing domain registration, you can always file a dispute with the registrar directly. She will just have to prove who she is and they can restore access to the domain.

The designer registered it (and 1 other name) under his own name :(
Guess we'll just have to wait some more (and probably pay some more).

I doubt we'll ever get the acct. info needed to update the DNS. He's been giving us the run around for 2 months now. She had to go ahead and pay for an additional 3 months hosting with him since everything's in limbo.

Thanks for the reply, Scott. Keep your fingers crossed for us! :D

Paintbrush, have a look at domainmonster.com

Back ordering has never been so easy

Theres an option to log your request to back order, so when the registrar finally drops it domainmonster will within a few seconds buy it automatically on your behalf

Small fee but will save you all this hassle you are having

I can vouch for their service, after sales and support is in line with CC

Oh and ask for that 3 months fee back, just to annoy him

If he doesn't renew the domain for $10 a year just to annoy you. :)

It's a small fee to pay for much satisfaction. So be careful who you annoy. :D

Viv, thanks for that. The prices are in pounds; do they deal with international customers?

Their site says anyone can use them
They have an easy to use control panel
and its dead easy transferring domains in or out
And for a single website (url) account hosting is about $2.40 a month if you buy 3 years in advance
If you want any help just shout

:D Progress – finally!
When I was able to talk to the client face to face and show her exactly what we needed... she found her old acct. info in a file folder she had with her. So, we have the main domain name stuff we need :D
I did ask her to find out just where the other domain name is being transferred to.

I've also got some final pricing/shipping info to plug in before I make the change.

What a relief! :P
