Alright so Im new to web development and so Ive never published/registered a web site so I have a few different questions that i would appreciate help with...Im not even sure if this is the right section to post in.

My first question is about registering a domain. I am doing a website for my church, and I want to know if I need to register each page for the website? For example I created 5 pages for the website, do I need to register all 5 or just the home page?

Next, when I go to register the domain will they give me the server information or how exactly does that work?

As far as FTPing.... do I need the CC's ftp program to do this? I know how to ftp programs with the command prompt at least somewhat.

Hi Justin, Welcome to CC.
What CC program are you going to be using to make your site? Are you going to use S-Drive or another host? You can use S-Drive for now with your free space until you get familiar with the app.
Here's the basics.
First you find a domain name that's available. You can do this through the hosting provider that you want to use. They will have a search function when you go to set up your account to see if the myawesomesite.com is available. Once you have your domain your host will have you setup the ftp username and password. This is the info you place in what ever your using to publish your site. You don't register pages. After you enter your ftp info in your publishing app you test it to make sure it can login to your host to publish. After that create your content and publish. Index page is by default the home page of you root directory. I'm sure some others will post to take care of anything I left out.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Justin, if you don't have it already... I'd recommend the Visual Site Designer (no coding required) and an SDrive account.
You can search and register a domain name and easily upload your site from within VSD. Just use your username and password from your Coffee Cup acct.. It's very easy to add forms, galleries, blogs, etc.

Everything "lives" on your SDrive space. You can log into your CC acct., go to your SDrive dashboard and see everything you've created, plus you'll get some statistics about visitors, page views and form submissions. Plus... the support is much better here than anywhere else! :D

Let us know what you do and if you need help with anything! :)

hey guys thanks for the responses...i just purchased a domain through coffeecup and went to publish. The only thing I dont understand is why the site did not load appear with all images and links, etc. i thought that by saving that stuff on the page it would just upload as it is in the VSD

Nice site :)
Just one thing – check out the calendar, it looks a little wonky (text/events shifted to the right of the calendar grid).

Great work – no one would suspect your new to this!

thanks for bringing that up...it looks fine on the laptop i created it on in both VSD when I preview and when I view the website. But once I got on other computers the calendar is messed up. Does anyone know how I can fix this so the appearance is the same on all computers...i thought I saw a way to do this before but i went back and looked and could not find anything.

I've never used the calendar, so no ideas from me :(
But someone else will be able to figure this out.

You could ask about it in the Web Calendar forum: http://www.coffeecup.com/forums/web-calendar/

I made the calendar myself in paint, that is also how I did my background...it took way too long but i think they look pretty good. i just upload them as the background and move the content around to fit accordingly. if anyone knows how to make it so the content is 'universal' for the different size pcs and different resolutions please let me know. i'd like to get that fixed asap so I just have to update the content and get the website done.

There's a lot of different direction you could go for a calendar. CC makes a calendar app that's pretty slick. http://www.coffeecup.com/web-calendar/
You could use this.

You could also make one in Excel or word and export the page as html.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
