Struggling With Header Containing...

Hi Guys,

Firstly it's a hello to all with this being my first post and pretty new to the CC software range.

Secondly to all the developers of the CC software, I take my hat off to you for creating such wonderful products and don't know why I haven't switched earlier from my old HTML software.

Now for my question, I'm really struggling to find the option when creating a full width column at the very top of the work window of approx. 120 in height with a black background, adding roughly 5 text links when splitting the column via the span width button and then making the whole column fixed so that any content below when scrolled in the preview mode, scrolls underneath the nav links and the column remains fixed in position. I know this maybe a simple brain lapse on my part, but I can't even see how when using the Nova template example.

Thanks guys and hope someone can help ;-)

Hi psycho-uk,
Go to the Layout tab and make your column the same amount of spans wide as your grid.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the swift advice but I must be doing something totally wrong somewhere because as soon as I change span width for the column to match the grid size, it drops down one of the text links underneath the others.

I'm still getting to grips with this program and can't wait till I've mastered the basics because it's was better than anything else I've ever tried (Sorry if I'm sounding a little dumb here but so used to using a WYSIWYG environment)

It should force anything down as it is now the full width of the page.

Hi Mick welcome the to forums!

I have a tutorial here that will help you to create a row that spans the entire page. The only thing different is you won't add an image you will just add the subgrid. After you add the subgrid delete the to bottom rows like I did. Then select the subgrid row that is spanning 12 and select divide column. Here is where you are going to have to know how many menu choices your going to have. If you had lets say 6 menu choices you would then keep dividing your column until you have 6 columns and since it spans 12 in total you would select each divided portion and change it to span 2 each.

Here is the Tutorial in reference:

Not sure how to make it fixed as you asked above. Maybe Eric has figured out a way to do this.

Hope this helps

Edit* - Just noticed you said 5 menu choices. In this case divide it into 5 and you would have to make one of the columns to span 3.

Thanks very much Steve, I saw one of your tutorials only the other day and I have to say, they are very informative and exceptionally helpful, so much so, I've just booked marked your youtube link.

Look forward to many more you may create to help the novice users like myself, get to fully understand everything inside of the RLM

Cheers buddy, appreciated ;)

How about how to create a horizontal nav bar?
It would be nice if the example page that opens in RLM had a sample menu in it, since it's such a common element.
I'm not sure what to use for the nav-bar placeholder, but I would like to be able to get the nav breakpoints, etc. figured out along with the rest of the site.
Maybe an unordered list** isn't the right placeholder for the nav-bar? Maybe 1 or 2 col spans with links in each?
Or would it be better to just leave an empty div there and create the menu as usual in the HTML Editor?

(**When I insert an unordered list, I can't find any way to get it from vertical to horizontal.)

I used a a header element for mine. It really doesn't matter what you use but it does help visually to get something of a similar look if your struggling with what the end result will look like.
