New website template - background...

I'm starting a new website with another paper template which is a little different than the one that I built for a client the past few months.

The template I'm using was originally built using php and I want it to be responsive html. (Of course!)

The template looks good at desktop but when the browser is reduced to around 1200 px the content container doesn't 'respond'.

I'm attaching an image to show what is happening and here's a link to the test site:

Thanks for any suggestions.

I wish we could edit posts when we forget something and then sign out of the forum.

I forgot to add that my first website I did with the paper template didn't have a middle image, just the background color of the top and bottom images.

The one I'm working on now has a top, middle and bottom image.

I have the middle image in the template but the issue is the alignment at responsive widths. (Hope that made sense.)

Ernie, maybe you could do this without having to use images at all. I don't know if this is possible in RLM, but if you have a container DIV that holds all the other elements – you could use CSS to apply the shadow to that. Scroll to the examples (#7):
http://www.css3.info/preview/box-shadow/
You could also apply this to just one area. Something like your example where just the body and not the header/footer have the shadow.

Paintbrush,

That looks really interesting and I'm going to give that a try and see if I can duplicate the look I want. If that works it will save a whole lot of work and having to adjust margins to get the images to fit with each other.

Also, three images that won't have to load.

Thanks for the resource, it's something I did not think about and now I learned something new today. I'll report back in this thread and let you know if that worked for what I want.

OK, here's what it looks like done with the css:

The other link is gone, I really messed that up with trying to add two paragraphs and decided to go this way. It doesn't look as good but it is workable for me. This is going to be one of my sites so I get to decide what goes where. :D But I will be asking for reviews and feedback.

Good job, Ernie!
If you want it to be a bit more like the previous version, you could make the width a bit less to show more space at the sides. Something like "width: 92%;". Experiment to see what looks good to you. ;)

I'll give that a try and see what it looks like.

Thank you for the help.
