How to limit page width to 1200 px...

We used RLM with bootstrap 2 and because the last break point is at 1200 px any screen width wider than this looses all the formatting we have done. The logical thing to do seems to limit the max width to 1200 px. Not sure how to do this.

I tried adding the following to custom.css (which I confirmed is included in index.html), but no go:

body { max-width:1200px; }
.container-fluid { max-width:1200px; }

At this point I would rather not edit the index.html file (too early in the project) and would like a solution either within RLM or by using custom.css.

Any pointers would be very much appreciated. Also is there a way or any reason to have a website wider than 1200 px? And if so, how does RLM accommodate this?

(BTW: Thank you for all the tips and videos. This forum has been very helpful)

Set your formating that you need just below 1200 to be the same just above.
Did you do a mobile up design?
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Thank you.

I used Bootstrap 2 Grid (Desktop Down Px Based).

Is there a button to click rather than doing each element individually?

Did you use a lot of class assignments for your formatting?

No. I pretty much followed the tutorial (with some hints from other tutorials).

I do want to know the answer to this and I am also interested in the idea of avoiding the issue altogether and limiting the size of the webpage to 1200.

Though I do imagine that anyone following the tutorial and selecting Bootstrap 2 Grid (Desktop Down Px Based) will run into exactly the same problem I am having so it might be a good idea to hash it out and get it resolved.

I appreciate your help.

The problem is within RLM itself, I have reported this long ago and since I am using windows XP and as coffeecup no longer support xp I got ignored, Now I have just download trial version on Mac Air and yes facing same issue.

You know why you are having this issue? I tell you why !

Your break point at 1200 px stays behind properties panel and out of your control.

see the attachment.

Mansour. This is exactly the cause of the problem - the break point beyond 1200 px is behind the property panel. So the problem was a complete surprise to me.

It would be nice if this were fixed and I am using Windows 7 which is still supported <smile>.

It is, however, reasonable in my mind to limit the maximum width of a webpage. Even this support page limits the max width of the page. So a quick workaround would be to limit the width of the page to 1200. I would be happy with that at this point.

BTW - thank you for your tutorials. I remembered your custom.css video and that was one of the first things I did on the project.

This will be rectified in the newest version as you will have an inspector tab.:cool: This will let you see that you have a break point assigned that isn't in view. The only other tip I can give is to always maximize your RLM screen when working on it.

Eric happy to know that that has been rectified, I just made video on mac to show the problem again but since it has been rectified never mind then. even with maximize screen size of 15" Dell Computer and 1440 x 900 Resolution on MacBook I have no chance to see breakpoints behind the properties panel.
