Grid Confusion: Drag n Drop or No? -...

A lot of great information here.
I am still trying to wrap my head around how to fit RLMP into my workflow.
Looking at the trials I was under the impression you could sort of freely take objects from the elements palette and drop them on the canvas and then arrange them as your proposed layout would require.

What I seem to be running into is that it looks like you have to do a step prior to dropping Element objects and that seems to be you have to create a "grid" or "table" layout first. This seems to entail creating Rows and Columns first to place the elements into. Please someone help me to understand if that is the case or not?

I am so looking forward to seeing what the RSDP (Responsive Site Designer) is going to look like. This is what a lot of us really could use but RLMP is a great start into a new frontier of website design.

Thanks so much.

Hi Simeon,

Your assumptions are correct rlm is built using a grid based system. And what you are describing is exactly how the software works. Not sure how much you have read but the quick start guide will describe in detail what the Rlm does.

I to am excited for the responsive site designer. I believe it will be like the Rlm except you can edit and add content within the software.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Steve,
I have been working through some great HTML and CSS tutorials by Treehouse and one of the foundations they mention is working with a "Grid" system.

I also notice it looks as if you have already implemented some of the RLMP magic sauce ;^)

Yes I have :) It is a very addicting software. I have been building multiple layouts and trying different things in each one.
