Hello RLM Forum

I have a client that wants to have a catalog open in here site supplied by another manufacturer. She sent me the link to the site and the manufacturer says that it has to be set up in a A Frame with the link supplied.

A few questions:

1 Will that be responsive like the rest of the site and if not will that blow anything up?

2 Every other time I have done something like this they have supplied a code snippet to place where I wanted the catalog to appear. How do I set up a A Frame. Seems I read read somewhere that frames were a no-no

3 For the future can I do this with any site?

Thanks in advance!!

You should always be careful when using an iframe displaying info from another site. The issue is that if they have a security problem or a virus related to the page you are displaying in the iframe, you now have the same thing on your site. In other words, you are subject to their security issues.

That being said, creating your own iframe is not hard. Here is some quick information that I got from http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_iframe.asp

iframe code
<iframe src="http://www.w3schools.com"></iframe>

You can add variables to it to make it appear as you want.
<iframe src="http://www.w3schools.com" width="600" height="400"></iframe>

At the URL above, there is a table that lists all the attributes (like width and height) form the iframe. You will notice many of them say, "Not supported in HTML5." You need to set up a css class or id for your iframe. However, in my opinion, you should also include the attributes for the sake of older browsers.

I would think that iframes can be responsive with regard to css. However, I haven't tried it, so I will let someone else comment on iframe responsiveness.

Did you know that Web Form Builder can be used for both simple and complicated forms and that it's not limited to the default fonts and buttons? Take a look at a form we developed for WindowTinting.com.

You have to pop the iframe into a container div with max-width being the width of the iframe. Then the iframe needs to fill that with 100% width. There are some examples on http://www.upholster.com/howto. The iframes there have been used for youTube videos, but it's the same principle.

Thanks Inger for the information! I just tried it out and it works fine. I used it to embed my YouTube videos here: www.slicegeom.com

Let me know if you have any questions, but I just did what Inger said to do and it worked fine.
