Browser compatibility and RLM

I really like how the redesign of my site design is turning out with RLM . . .

http://brosepianoservice.com/ (home page only right now)

It looks great in all the modern browsers. I did find out however the layout falls apart in IE8 and IE7 (can't remember which was worse now). Should I be concerned about that? What older browsers should I be concerned with in 2014? What do you guys design for these days? Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Less than 10% of the world is currently using IE8 as it does not support many of responsive design features.

I love the quote "Friends don’t let friends use Internet Explorer 8."

If any of your customers are currently still on IE8 then they will be seeing the web in a worse light then most and will be forced to update sooner or later by Windows. IE9 and up are what I code for. :P

Anyone still using IE 7 or 8 should be used to looking at weird web pages. :lol:
IE9 has some issues as well...
The HTML5 Boilerplate can help with browser issues:

I have a script on one of my sites telling users the site is optimized for modern browsers. They seem to love that term so most do.:lol:
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

That's a relief. Thanks Guys! I was really hoping the answer would be along those lines. :)

I really like the quote Adam! That put a huge smile on my face. :D

I'll have to take a look at the Boilerplate stuff Paintbrush. Thanks!

Eric, do you remember which site of yours has the script by chance? Would like to take a look at that if possible.

Thanks again guys! Very helpful!!

I have this on one site:

<body>
<!--[if IE]><div style='clear: both; height: 112px; padding:0; position: relative;'><a href="http://www.theie8countdown.com/ie-users-info"><img src="http://www.theie8countdown.com/assets/badge_iecountdown.png" border="0" height="112" width="348" alt="" /></a></div><![endif]-->

It encourages viewers to ditch IE8 and get a new browser :D
