What on earth am I doing wrong - as far as I can see I am barely scratching the surface of the functionality but can't even get the simple stuff to work.

So I have got the default emails from a Web Form - one for me and one for the person who is submitting the query on the web form. This works!

Now I want to edit them with RED so I select SETTINGS, the pencil icon then edit in RED. So far so good.
In a paragraph of text in RED I want to use the text that a visitor has entered in one of my fields - guide makes it sound easy - I triple click the paragraph text find the point that I want to insert the field text and type "[field name]" - in my case [txtEmailAddress].

I save the letter, select file -> Export to Web Form Builder and save to a .fbe file. Back in Web Form Builder I click the green circle with a plus sign in it and select Import from RED. Then publish. Magic! I fill in the form and the email comes to me with the paragraph:

"...… yada yada yada [txtEmailAddress]."

I haven't even started doing anything complicated yet - what am I doing wrong (other than following the guide)?

If I change the content of the letter do I have to re-publish the webform? I have but is this required? Does this publish the letter stuff too?

Do I have to re-export the webform header and in place html and re-paste this into a web page if I have changed the letter content (not name)but not changed the form? It is a bit of a pain in the butt having to re-copy & past this stuff every time if I don't have to...

Hi Steve,
Try creating the email first. Then in the form builder import it and enter the variable [txtEmailAddress] there.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Where in form builder should I enter the variable? In the email preview I can't edit it.
Or do you mean import the letter THEN create the fields in form builder to coincide with the [txtEmailAddress] string in the email template that I've imported?

That's not the way the help shows it (see attached).

Dbl check to make sure your variable is correct and no typo's. uppercase or lowercase for example.

No sorry but this is a completely terrible first experience.
I've gone back to the starting point:
I load Web FormBuilder and click settings -> Confirm Email.
It appears as the default version (yellow boxes and all).
I select the pen and edit in RED, the contact us bit has a link of contact_placeholder - there isno instruction on how to replace this.
If in web form builder I go to settings -> notifications (the email to us) and click the pen and edit in RED I get the other design. In the last paragraph I have the text:

Looking good? Then let’s keep going. In case you need to contact the person that submitted a form, drop him or her an email at the address submitted: [txtEmail].

txtEmail is exactly the same as the Name property of the field in web form builder but the email I get through after publishing all of this is as attached. The case is exact I've exported and published from every app- we are talking about 3 apps from the same supplier here publishing from a subscribed web service from the same supplier - why is it so difficult?

I'm trying to figure out why your having problems as I tested it and it worked perfect for me.
Are you sure your altering the correct email Confirmation vs Notification?
If so try getting it to first work with one of the default email setups within the form builder.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
