Started thinking about something: Can this method also be used for Google maps? Google has made some new interface with so-called 'responsive' maps, but I don't like their method as it cuts off the map instead of making it smaller.

I haven't got time right now to test if it works with Google maps, but I may try later today.

Try downloading this zip file: www.fjermeros.net/test/site.zip , unpack it and upload it to your site. Please note that I also have the dash in the image name, and I've called the html page 'index.html'. If you have a different index page there already, then you need to rename this one, of course.

I download yours and it works. I put it in the subfolder site so the web address is
http://cjstj-1964.info/site/

The only difference I can see is the size of out images. 523kb (yours) 2.6MB (mine).

Will play with it more tonight to see if I can duplicate yours.

Got it working. Copied your image and that didn't make a difference.
Then I copied your css & js file to my root and it started working.
One difference I noticed on my version that worked on the PC but not the IPod was the tooltip had a yellow background and yours had a grey background.
Now with the working version mine is grey also.
Does that mean the default CSS file was being used versus the tooltipster one?

There's only one css file being referenced on your page and that's the tootltipster.css. You can modify that to your liking but make sure you save a copy as a backup.:)

Discovered a little anomaly concerning Apple portable devices
On my IPad running IOS7, my site works both with Safari & Chrome browsers
But on my older IPod Touch running IOS6, it only works with Chrome.

Interesting. I wonder how many IOS6 devices will be coming to the page. I did a quick search and nothing came up. It's easy to detect the device and swap scripts if you can find the cause. Check this page on your IOS6 device.

The web site is working today.
Down in the image map section on my IPod with IOS 6 only the square produces a tooltip.
