Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to the program's Visual Editor. Over the years it had relied on controls that Microsoft had built into Windows but has been gradually discontinuing support for. In order to make the Visual Editor compatible with the new and important HTML5 web standards, we would need to research and develop a new way to program it — precious time that we'd rather devote to refining our beloved code editor.

We feel strongly about using the instant preview options when dealing with code. The split-screen preview shows changes on-screen as you make them, and the external preview can be open at all times in a different window (which is great if you use a second monitor). Try them! We're confident that you'll find these preview options just as useful as working with the visual editor.

If you would like to have the previous version that contained it, open a support ticket and we can send you a download URL. Just note that we cannot provide technical support for that very any longer.
I appreciated reading this response very much! I have been wondering what happened to the WYSIWYG feature of the HTML Editor. I really miss that feature, and thought I would have to give up on this software to find one that does have the feature. Knowing about the split screen preview feature will be a big help to professional amateurs like me. I hope one day you can reinvent the WYSIWYG feature for the CC HTML Editor, but in the meantime, I will be OK with the split screen preview. Thanks! :)

Another long time user that is disappointed to see the WYSIWYG feature missing after the latest update. I was certainly not a power user but my work flow included designing with the visual editor and fixing things that weren't right with the HTML editor.

I have several websites, all are VERY simple page holders that direct people to other content like my social media sites. Here are some examples.....

blackcows.com
infantilespasms.com

Obviously most of you could put those together in your sleep but for me I developed a nice workflow with the HTML Editor over the years using the visual editor and then cleaning it up with the html editor. It always seemed to me like you could get close using a visual designer but it always took a little bit of messing around with the actual code to get it just right, sometimes it was a link that wasn't correct or a box that was just too big, or something similar.

Would the VSD use my project files for my current sites or would all of that need to be entered again?

Does the VSD allow you to view the HTML if you would like? I see on the page for the VSD there is an HTML tool, does this allow you to see the actual code or just allow you to add code?

Nothing can be imported with VSD you would need to start over from scratch. The HTML tool within the program allows you to add/edit code to your site, there's no visual window with that it's just a code box. There are many places that allow you to enter code and scripts within the Head and footer etc.

I don't "believe" there is any type of Preview window, only the Preview in browser setup, but I may be wrong on that.

I would go ahead and redevelop your sites with VSD then over time get reacquainted with the html editor and bring it back into the picture.:) If you look at the site in my sig there's a lot of things you can accomplish with VSD.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.
