View Ad’s in visual mode - Post ID 99537

I have the html editor installed on my home pc and office pc. When I created my travel books store in the office I was able to see the Amazon.com books ad’s while in the visual edit mode. I created a table with several rows and columns. I could then size the ad’s visually.

But at home I can only see the ad frame when I click on the table box, but no add shows up until I go into preview. What would be the difference from the home and office settings? I hope it is just a setting because it would be very strange for it to work on one PC and not the other. It really is a great tool if I can visually size the Ad.

Thanks,

Brad

Stupid question I'm sure but, .. are the file structures for the site exactly the same on both computers?

Let me provide you with a little more information. I am using the Coffee Cup HTML editor Build 305 on both PC’s. I am building pieces of pages using the CC Html editor, and then I cut and past the code into a HTML block using Network Solution’s Image café web design software. This part is working out great for me. The issue that I have is on the CC editor in visual edit mode acting different on two PC’s. The Amazon ad links are served directly by them, they just provide the html code which are working fine.

If you see the attached document you will see my travel book page and you can see the books in visual edit mode. But at home I can only see the books in preview mode. It is not the worst thing and I can get around by sizing the ad without seeing the book but that is a bit of a pain.

With the HTML Editor, you are supposed to use either the visual or the code editor (in conjunction with the preview facility). As frequently stated in these forums, if you switch between visual and code editors, you may get some unpredictable code change results. Are you by any chance doing this switching, either on your home computer or at work?

Actually for these kind of ad pages pages, I am using only visual and preview. This has worked great for me for my Affiliate Ad links.

Actually I don't see anything in the boxes at all in Firefox 3.5.5, but they show up fine in IE8.

Those PC's are they both the same operating system and same updates? And I still think this is related to structure somewhere because if you can see it all on one computer, you should be able to see it on another one if the structure of the files is exactly the same. All the graphics etc. have to be exactly where they are on the computer that works or it will not work, I wish I knew what else to tell you, but you definitely do have a problem with Firefox not showing your graphics either.

For me, the ads show up in the five browsers I checked: IE8, Firefox, Opera, Safari and Chrome, but in Firefox and Opera the second ad from the left is slightly cut off at the bottom. This seems to be because that box is slightly more narrow than the others so the text in the (linked-) product description wraps and adds a line.
Also, I noticed that the two boxes on the right are closer to center than the two on the left, which makes the (centered-) text in the middle look off center. I don't use the Visual Editor myself, but if there is a way that you could place and size the boxes exactly, by pixels or by reference to left and right margins, it probably would look better .
