can anyone point me in the direction of JS or jQuery code that will play a 'video loading' type gif while the video loads ?

on my site, there is a pause while each video loads for the first time, and nothing happens.
after it plays, there is no pause if i play it again. but the first time it is dead air.

i did go thru it. not quite what i was looking for, and some of it was quite old.
it may be that i haven't really got straight in my mind exactly what i expect it to do.
