Hi...I'm new to CC HTML Editor...I just started working with Dreamweaver to update our company's website a few weeks ago but would rather use CC (I've used some of the other products and like them. Question (probably a simple answer)...My current project in Dreamweaver used a template (consisting of a table with editable regions) for all the pages. Everything opened good in CC but I don't know how to edit the template now. I tried bringing the .dwt file in and saving it as a template but that doesn't really do anything with the existing pages. Instead of templates, are "snippets" used?
Just wanted to see if there was a quick answer.
Thanks.

Can't think of any quick answer. The .dwt file is probably one created in Dreamweaver, and it might only open in that program.
Are you using the Visual Site Designer or the HTML editor? They are 2 very different programmes.

If you are using the HTML editor, you should be able to edit the different parts of any table with the editor, but it will take an understanding of html to figure things out.

Cliff is correct. Only DW can update pages based on changes to a DW template. For other editors you can use some kind of includes such as PHP includes or server side includes (SSI).

I see where the "template" information was copied into each of my pages when I opened it in the HTML Editor (I'm not using the Visual Site Designer since I already have stuff half done). It looks like if I make any changes I'll have to make them in each page now...kind of time consuming. But I still prefer this editor over Dreamweaver so I'll stick it out. I think I answered my own question about the "snippets"...once they're in there, it's the same thing, I'll have to make any changes on each page.
Thanks for the info.

swwench,

Depending on your host, you can use php or ssi to put duplicate code in your pages. Then a single change can change all your pages.

As an example, if you have a header that is the same on all your pages, write the code one time (or in your case, copy it from an existing page). Then put that one bit of code on your website, and insert the code to bring it into your pages in each page where you want it. It is a great time saver when you need to make a change, just change that one file and all the other pages are automatically changed.
