Uploading file to server without...

Hi:

When editing a page with php stuff, I have to upload it to the server to actually see how the page looks. This is not a problem, but I would *love* to be able to do it without having to click OK on the are you sure question every time. In other words, if I go to FILE/UPLOAD to SERVER and select the server and directory I want, then just upload the file without asking. I didn't get to that menu selection by accident.

What would be really neat is if I could just assign a server and directory to the file and click a button to auto-upload it.

I am not afraid of errors, because I always work on test copies with a different name, and if I mess it up, I can just come back to coffee cup and ctrl-Z back to the original code.

Are there any options like this? I hope so.

Thanks,

Larry

Does no one else have this question? I know the file already exists on the server and, yes, I want to overwrite it. Is there no option in Coffeepot that squelches this popup question?

Hi Larry,

It sounds like your really good at what you do. I, on the other hand, have those "oh heck" moments that no matter how much I rub my head, I can't travel through time to 5 minutes before. Maybe this is would be more of a feature request.

Hi Larry,

Let me tell you about a nifty Open Source (aka - free) tool that allows you to simulate a server on your desktop. It's called XAMPP. It loads a virtual Apache server with a SQL interface on your desktop. It runs under Windows and actually is resident in the Mac OS (or it used to be).

This way, you can verify your PHP and other scripts are error free before loading online to a live or test site.

Here's a link to the site to download it - http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html

And I agree with your request. Some other FTP apps don't ask for confirmations -- which can be one less click/keystrokes, but no safety net. Any FTP activity on your server online is 'final'. I have overwritten many files with other FTP applications -- It's good to have a safety net.

Best
Cheryl
