Upgrade - How To

I've just downloaded the 2010 version for the (registered) HTML Editor, but can't find any instructions about how to upgrade to it (from Build 305). Do I need to uninstall the previous version, or can I just install the new one 'over the top' (in the same folder)? If I have to uninstall, will I lose all my custom settings?

Many thanks,

It is always best to uninstall the old program first. Yes, you will probably lose your settings.

You shouldn't lose any projects you have setup though, at most you'll lose any customizing you've done to the program itself. Your settings for any servers and projects should remain intact though :)

Thanks for the responses. I've since found some advice from Coffeecup (eg, http://www.coffeecup.com/forums/html-editor/the-new-html-editor-is-here/?page=5), which suggests that uninstalling isn't necessary (or at least it wasn't at that time!). I really don't want to have to recreate all my snippets, etc, again, so I'll give it a go.

Doesn't the installer handle the uninstall of previous versions asking you if you want to backup the previous installation before continuing the with the installation?
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

Peter
I have just upgraded from 2009 to 2010 and all my snippets are still avaiable in html 2010. I deleted my version of 2009 and then installed 2010.
If your still concerned why not back up your snippet folder.

Snippet folder won't be removed when you uninstall it :)

I also noticed something last night that I didn't see before. I reinstalled the program for an issue I'm having with it (nothing to concern anyone about as it's probably just me lol), and when I uninstalled it, and reinstalled it, it didn't wipe out my customized toolbars. That's the first time it's never done that. I will probably have to uninstall and reinstall again as I believe that Scott said he uploaded another version to fix the issue with the popup box when you are uploading not having a way to turn it off thing. I'll let ya know if it does it again as this would indeed be a very nice thing if it doesn't wipe out our customizations either. That was a nasty problem and I'd love that to be gone :P
