Two upload methods = two upload...
I've just created a new website project, configured the settings, and all that. (Version 12.8 691)
My website is ECRDA.org and is hosted on DreamHost. In their wisdom, they named my root directory 'ecrda.org', and it is on the same level as /logs and /Maildir. (I know this because I can traverse a level above root.)
Under Website Project Settings, on the 'Server (optional)' tab, I've browsed to, and set the Remote Root Folder to, '/ecrda.org'. So far, so good.
Here's the thing: When I highlight a file and hit F4, the file properly uploads to the designated root directory, /ecrda.org.
If, however, I right-click on the file I'm editing and use 'Upload to Server' -- or if I use the 'Upload' button on the toolbar -- I can only navigate thus:
FTP Account -> ECRDA.org -> (Root)
The problem is that the latter method does not upload to the designated Remote Root Folder -- but to the level above it, so it's sitting there with /logs and /Maildir.
When I review Website Project Settings on the 'Server (optional)' tab, the Remote Root Folder does show the correct root '/ecrda.org'. However, if I click the 'Browse' button to the right, I am taken to the folder marked '(Root)' -- which is the level above /ecrda.org.
I have not experienced this with HTML Editor on a website at GoDaddy, perhaps because (unlike at DreamHost) I do not have permission to go up a level beyond my root.

Try
/ecrda.org/

I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Can you not in your control panel specify the default folder when connecting to them? Try also have this checkbox "enhanced security " setting that locks you to a folder. Try disabling that.

That has no effect.

I've posted that in the appropriate DH forum; we'll see what comes back, if anything.
According to the DH wiki, though, "The Enhanced User Security setting prevents other users from accessing your home directory. " Not sure how that might help.
The question remains, too, why two upload methods within the Editor result in two upload destinations. Should they not use the same subroutines?

From DreamHost: "No, there is no way to change the root directory for an FTP user. Changing it would make some of the files under that user impossible to view or modify."
So, should I submit a bug report to CC?
Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
