The editor can't see my projects...
Greetings,
it's the second time that it happens. I open the Editor, yet coming to the screen "Select a website project" it is just blank. All projects are gone and I have to start over setting them up (connecting editor to server and files on my computer). Why is that happening and how can I prevent it?
Tyia,
Katrin

Are you using CCleaner by any chance?
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

No (unless I am not aware of it), I never heard of it. Just searched the Editor help file pdf but there was no reference to it.
But once I browse to the location of the files on my computer, editor has still all server info (thank gosh).
It's just odd, and I would like to prevent it.
Thank you,
Katrin

Hmm, yeah that was definitely a Ccleaner issue for sure a while ago, but Ccleaner has altered their program after we hounded them so that shouldn't be the problem even if they were using it. My guess is that you're using some program or another to clean your cache and temp files and it may be catching that file too. Are you using anything that maybe you recently scanned your computer with that we can take a look at?
Are you using your pc as the same user every time?

I am using this computer always with the same user, Eric.
Jo Ann, yes, for my work I clear cache and temp files from time to time manually. There was no tool scanning my computer between night and next morning when turning computer back on.
But my cursor froze last night... With keyboard I managed to close the single files in Editor but had to turn off computer forcing editor to be closed not the regular way. This usually never happens. But maybe this messed something up...

Yeah that could also have something to do with it, but that usually doesn't clear anything other than the things that were changed in files or in program settings during that session that you had it open. Now if you had changed your project settings in some way, it could be that it corrupted it.
Once you get the settings setup again this time, make a backup of it so you can put it back in again. Depending on which version of Windows you are on it would be done by going to the location similar to this which I have on Windows 8:
C:\Users\your computer id here\AppData\Roaming\CoffeeCup Software\CoffeeCup HTML Editor\Settings
In that folder find the projects.ini file and make a copy of it and put it into a safe place. That file is what holds all your projects that are usually setup in the editor. This file is basically just the file that tells the editor where the project files are. If the problem happens again all you'll need to do is copy that file back into that location again and your projects will all be in the list again.
Hope that helps, and keep us posted if it does it again, and keep track of what you have done for a few days to see if you can track down what may be causing it if it keeps happening. All information helps at some point or another
