The "default browser" for Preview...

I have just downloaded the most recent version of the Free HTLM editor. I am having a hard time trying to figure out how to get the default preview panel to not use Internet Explorer 8 that is installed on my computer as well as FireFox and Chrome. I came to want to use the Coffee Cup editor because I was hoping that it would allow me to preview with a non-Microsoft browser. Unfortunately I have been unable to figure out how. :(

I have previously used the First Page 2006 editor but that says right up front that that it used the installed IE editor without any choice.

Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks for reading.

Edit: Note I have FireFox set as the "default" browser on my Vista Ultimate system.

You can call up external browsers with the editor for previewing externally, but the internal preview only supports the Trident rendering engine (used by IE), which is normal for windows apps.

Some programs will additionally allow you to use Gecko or Webkit engines (Firefox and Safari, respectively), but they will tell you that in advance.

Cary:

Thanks for clarifying. I have setup all my installed browsers on the external setup list and have been using them. Thanks.

The new IE9 is causing major problems for me: I am getting a 'floating point operation' error message more or less constantly now: to begin with it was only a couple of times once in a while, now it is pretty much the instant I have checked to see what my page will look like in the preview frame: as soon as I click back to editing the source code, I get the message & the program crashes.

Am I the only one experiencing this?

Try uninstalling IE9 and see if that helps. You could just have a bad IE installation.
