Hi,
As some of you folks know my wife and myself have been building a conceptual web site for a ham radio club that we belong to.
We presented the site to the club last Thursday explaining to them that it was designed to be changed as it was written in CSS, HTML using Coffeecups Editor and Menu maker.
It went well, in fact too well :D. They not only liked it but want to stay with it allowing us to use less then the 12 buttons down to 6 or 7.
The reason for the long introduction is that their present website is done with Joomla (an older version) so that the various committee heads can sign in and make changes to things like the membership lists, adding or removing repeaters, adding and removing schedules and events through an editor. Therein lies the problem.

Is there some sort of dialog box that can be designed for these committee heads that do not know code so that when the sign in they can make their changes using an editor of some sort? Does Coffeecup have any software that can do this? Is this possible?
If you would like to view the experimental site it is at http://dev.kanidor.com/

Thanks,
Steven and Peggy

There are a lot of options out there (but no CC product), but I've found this to be one of the easiest to use for small sites where only certain sections need to be updated:
https://grabaperch.com/products/perch

Unlike some other similar products, this one is not subscription based. You pay a one time price per website and install the code on your own server rather than paying monthly fees to an online service.
You might be interested in some of the Perch add-ons, check them out here: https://grabaperch.com/add-ons/apps
–Makes it easy to add events/news, member areas, etc.

Congrats on getting the site approved and near completion. Glad to hear they were reasonable about the menu. :D

This looks really good but how much is the license in US Dollars?

I tried using an online converter and it shows: 294.07 4755 USD

This is for the 189 pound license. Either that's just under $300 or it's priced way to high for anything other than huge corporate sites.

I think I'll send them an email and let them know it would be nice if they put prices in pounds and US dollars so we don't have to waste time trying to convert pounds to dollars. This is the world wide web after all. :D

[EDIT] I sent them an email and asked a couple of questions.

It's $79 – one time pmt. and you own it. (click $USD next to see prices)
CMS subscriptions can run from a few hundred and up per year....every single year :(
I like Perch because I get to keep the code rather than having to give my site login info to an online CMS account that's separate from my server/site.

There are some free things out there (or donor supported): http://www.cmsmadesimple.org/ (Know nothing about this one)
This one has been around for a long time: https://www.cushycms.com/en (free limited options or $336/yr)
This looks interesting: http://gpeasy.com/ (free, still in beta) :)

Hi Paintbrush,
Once again you have helped me out of a jam because Perch is exactly what I am looking for.
What I like about it is that I can put any where in the code where I want or need CMS access for the other members to make their changes.
The price is not too shabby either. I don't need Perch Runner but Perch will do fine.

One more thing. Did you notice their use of their menu? Will Menu Builder do that? May be the answer I'm looking for.

Thanks again,
Steven

Glad that worked for you :)

The Menu Builder doesn't do that, at least not yet. In the next release/version we should get the options to have the mobile menu slide in from top, bottom, or either side.
What it will do right now is let you create the mobile menu (hamburger icon like on the Perch site) that expands and contracts when you click it.
You should download a free trial so you can give it a go and see what's possible.
