Just had a play with this since I've got the Editor open (and I'm here instead of working ).
When I un-checked 'smart tab' (under customization), the indent went to whatever number is specified in the columns section; for example - 2 coumns = 2 spaces or 4 columns = 4 spaces.
Is this what you're looking for?

I have smart tab checked.

YAYYYYYY paintbrush!!

smart tab is unchecked and program goes to "Tab Columns" and "Tab Stops" to see what I want.
smart tab checked and program doesn't care what I want.

My sincerest apologies to the Project Manager and Writers. I was out of line jumping to that conclussion.

That's strange because its always been checked for me and it uses the tab stop and columns.

I hear that. Witness the head bonking on my atavar. (stolen)

CC HTML Editor didn't cost a lot of money, but it IS an pretty complex project. As such, there are always things that have more operation authority than other things.

It can be a life form all of its' own.

The interesting part is that there are individuals like yourself, Inger, paintbrush, Jo Ann to make it worthwhile.

Ah yes, I didn't notice the Smart Tab thing either, thanks Paintbrush! And for me it has to be unchecked also or it does 8 spaces no matter what I put in those tab stops and tab columns boxes, ignores what I put there completely. You're strange Eric, we're going to put you in a box with Scott and label you both:

I am new to CoffeeCup, having just moved from Homesite, and this tab thing was driving me crazy. Here is what I am experiencing:

When tabbing a single line, behavior is as expected.
When tabbing a number of lines, behavior is erratic.

I tried all the suggestions on the forum and every possible combination of tab stop and column values, but cannot get consistent results.

However, the keyboard shortcuts do seem to work as expected. Just a little annoying.

In Homesite, a tab was 5 spaces, and each time you tapped tab whether it was a single line or multiple lines, you would get that 5 spaces. That would be nice.
