Tab Stops (agian) - Post ID 214905
Sorry Folks,
This 'Tab' control business has never been resolved. I simply resigned myself to tapping the space key to line things up so that I could see different parts of the script.
However, each of my pages are getting pretty lengthy these days, so I REALLY would like to attend to this issue.
I am also using version 12.7 build 456. All I want to do is skip 'x' spaces, and 'x' more spaces whenever I touch the tab key. And then maintain the spacing when I save and re-open any document. I've been into the modify options so many times I've forgotten what I have tried and what I haven't tried.
Considering this is essentially a text-editor, and tabbing should be second nature, I have to be doing something wrong. Might be this...
One of the many comments I've read on this subject (search The HTML Editor forum for "tabs") suggested uninstalling the HTML editor... cleaning the registry... and then installing the editor again. I am certainly willing to do that, but...
Cleaning the registry???
How am I to do that? What would be the unique phrase that refers to CC HTML editor in the registry. I'll just delete 'em all!! (Then reinstall and pray)
Regards,
-Paul-

I have HTML Editor 12.8 Build 691. Latest release far as I know.
Here's what I've got...Go to 'Tools/Document Display Properties' off top menu.
Under 'Customization/ HTML/PHP Documents' click on 'Modify Options'
Come down to 'Tab Stop' and enter the number of spaces you want to move with the TAB key.
Click 'OK' then click 'OK'. Since this is a 'Document Setting' I am assuming it is stored with the document you have open and will re-load with the document next time you open it. I have not fully tried this and leave it for you to try.
Hope this works for you ...

Thanks, gunsmoke ... and Eric,
I went over the discussion I started back in March, Eric. (check or uncheck Smart Tab didn't have an effect)
Anyway, I installed the latest and greatest version...
Now, it's going to get interesting...
Does it matter if I am scripting in an HTML, PHP, or CSS page?
-Paul-
Why do I ask? The function appears to work fine in an HTML or a PHP page. This seems to happen on a CSS document. Could the # and . prefixes have anything to it???
Oie! I need a drink!

Yes, it matters. You'll have to adjust the TAB stops for whatever type of document you are editing. Just follow the instructions above but select 'Customization/ Style Sheet Documents' for .css documents instead and set the TAB stop. You will probably have to adjust this for each document you open, but it should save when you save the document so that the next time you open that document it should be what you set it at earlier. Checking or unchecking 'Smart TAB' doesn't seem to make a difference for me. I'll have to investigate that option more ...
