I upgraded to the newest version of the HTML Editor a couple of days ago, and just discovered my snippets are gone. I have upgraded many times over the years and never lost them. They are not in the folder C:\Program Files\CoffeeCup Software\Snippets There is no folder there. Anyone have any solutions?

Thanks,
Janet

Hiya Pine,

There are no snippets at all on your Snippets tab? Or are you talking just your custom ones?

You'll find the snippets folder is now located here with the new builds as they changed where it installs to now:

Hiya Pine,

I would suggest that at this point (which is already after the fact sorry) that you back up that folder that you are aware of now on a periodic basis so as not to lose them in the future. This way if they are gone you can always add your personal ones back in quite quickly :)

Interesting one this....

The same happens with custom Toolbars.... Seems that custom setup's
are lost when upgrading to a new release.

Hopefully at some point, custom stuff can be automatically preserved so as to survive the update process.....

Sometimes it takes a bit of work to build things up so that they are just as you would like,
and seems daft that it all gets lost so easily....

Hiya Peter,

The toolbars are working as intended actually. Although they are still working on trying to give us the customization options we've been asking for, they had added it to a previous build and it was pretty buggy so it was removed. Right now it's suggested that you do not save your toolbars and pain yourself to redo them manually as they could change at any time and your saved toolbar files may not be correctly setup for a new build and could cause issues.

They are working on this though, unfortunately adding it caused more issues than benefits so they had to revert to the non saving customized options. You "can" theoretically save your custom toolbars, that feature is still in the program. It's just not guaranteed that it will function correctly if you readd the file to a future build is all.

Hope that helps explain that issue as well. We're all waiting on the fix for that so hang in there I'm sure they will get it worked out :)

Hiya Jo Ann

The toolbars thoughts just sprang to mind after reading all this.

I guess it takes a while for programmes to evolve well, and after the
major changes in CoffeeCup recently, I spect there are many items that will be looked at.

Custom stuff is quite useful, and it will be nice to not have to redo things

Thank you for your replies! I think it would be a great idea to add to the install instructions to back up all the snippets. I would definitely have done it!:)

Hi
I lost my snippets in the upgade but got them alll back OK.
Scott gave me this location to retrive them

This was the reply I received from Scott in a previous snippets thread
"This was something we just corrected in todays update. What you need to do is go to C:\Program Files\CoffeeCup Software\Snippets and copy them to C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\CoffeeCup Software\Snippets"
