I am getting this error when I try to open the HTML Editor on Windows 7... it was working perfectly before, but for some reason it stopped working and started giving me this error, any idea what might be causing that error to happen?

Did anything change on your computer like an anti-virus update, windows hotfix etc.? The software itself does not automatically update, so it sounds like something on the OS may have changed. You could also try re-installing the software and see if that helps.

If that doesn't work, try doing a system restore to when it worked and see if that helps.

I added a bunch of other software (like photoshop, avast, corel draw, filezilla, opera, firefox, google chrome, safari) and also updated windows (actually it made the update on its own as I have not learned how to use it yet...)

for the software to work I need to run it using compatibility from windows7, which is kind of a pain since it keeps asking me to do a few extra clicks

Hiya Ricardo,

Unfortunately for us windows 7 users, you'll be seeing a whole lot of programs that make you have to do them few extra clicks just to start them every single time. I'm plagued with them myself too and adding it to the administration setting doesn't stop that nor does setting it to other windows compatibility. It's a plague and I hate it. I've been looking up some interesting ways around it though, but I haven't tried any of them because a lot of the programs that I use get a lot of updates so I don't know if the updates will break the fixes or not lol. If you'd like to read about what I've been reading about, it's a way around it by creating tasks in your computer. No hacking and slashing, no rogue programs to install, just time consuming data entry to setup tasks to allow you to start the programs as safe. Here's the link I've been working with after an hour of searches and finding only rogue programs from unknown nobodies that think I'm going to install it so that it can have full access to my computer lol. Silly hackers :P

Good luck with it and if you do try it, post how it works or if it works :)

Just right-click on the shortcut icon, select properties and then click on the compatibility tab and you can set the preference there. That will save you a step or two. ;)

I already did that... still have to click once after I open coffee cup HTML editor, but better than allowing hackers to access my computer...

hehe I hear ya Ricardo trust me. There definitely should be a program setting that allows you to tell the stupid windows program that it's trusted and not to have to keep popping up them dang boxes to allow it to open it..... soooo irritating, that's one of the biggest reasons I never got Vista, next to the ram monster problem it was of course lol.

I am only using win7 because it came with my new laptop... otherwise I would be using LINUX or WIN XP...

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
