I am the CSS guru.

I also have a couple of tutorials on my site that you might find useful: http://www.innovatewebdevelopment.com/support.html

Actually, most of what you want to do you can do with CoffeeCup software.

I'm finding out that I don't really need the php. I thought I did because my son told me HE thought it would work best. I think, sometimes, he just wants me to work harder. Since he offered to do it for me - for a "family rate" of $80 an hour, his opinion is rather suspect. What's frustrating, is I told him to never give away his services for nothing. Now, I pay. It's funny.

I started today with CoffeeCup html and it's working fine, so far. I've got the bones ready and will start loading real stuff tomorrow.

I'm still going to take some of the tutorials just for the mental exercises. I'm so happy to have all these links to resources. This is my first experience with CoffeeCup forums and I have to say I'm very impressed.

Thank you all!

I have to agree...these forums are very friendly and a great resource.... with lots of people really willing to help :D

I also have to admit they are very addictive and I spend way too much time here

Great to hear that you are well on your way and its all starting to fall into place.

Kids...don't you love em! Sounds like you have taught him well

Tell him that's fine ...you will just deduct what he owes you for food, clothing and accommodation etc for the last x years ...
I know you believe you understand what you think I said...but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not exactly what I meant.

80.00 an hour! That is far removed from the going rate of a web developer. I only charge between 25-50 depending on the job. I can't imagine what he charges for nonfamily.

When I doing a uni course in web design we were told that the going rate for a good designer was around $75 per hour and up (that's Australian dollars so about $60 US).

He got $60 an hour in 2004 to design the web page for the school a private international boarding school for kids with learning disabilities in Florida, but it was a school that was very picky and had some money to throw around. They specifically asked for someone who could identify and duplicate some esoteric fonts and who was a graphics designer, too. They wanted him to set up the servers and provide training. The fact is, he's not all that motivated to do web design. He works as a graphic designer for a national marketing company and would rather not work on computers on "off" hours. I also think he'd rather NOT work for "mom." He'll give me some help, once I get going.

I don't know what the current rates are. I don't think the school would balk at $80 an hour today. If you guys aren't getting somewhere close to that, I think there's something wrong with the system. That website brought in tons of business, enabled parents to keep track of their kids and just plain gave the school a good image.

Remember she said the going rate for a family member, he obviously charges much more to regular folks.

I rarely charge by the hour. I tend to sell package deals.
