I'm using PHP includes to put a common header and footer in the pages as they are displayed, works great; however, when I run the Menu/Document/Validate HTML, I get the following error:

Saw <?. Probable cause: Attempt to use an XML processing instruction in HTML. (XML processing instructions are not supported in HTML.)

I have searched for a solution with no luck. I'm at the point of hard coding the header in every page on the web site (shudder)

You can't run php in the html editor.

yeah, more's the pity. Does that mean that when I run the validatorr I can ignore the PHP code errors?

Yes,Use an online validator to validate the actual page on the server.

Thank you Eric. I did find one other alternative, however I'm not inclined to install an Apache server on my laptop so...

I use WAMP. Works great with all the CC products.
