No files in my working folder - Post...

I'm quite new to the coffeecup interface with HTML editor2008. I am using Vista Home Premium. As I work with the HTML editor, I notice that when I want to open the files outside of coffeecup, the files in my working folder are non-existent. I have tried to view hidden files as well with no avail. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Also, when I go to preview with my default browser, firefox, I am told that the tmp file cannot be found? (maybe the same issue as finding the file outside of coffeecup in the working folder).

any help is appreciated!!!

Aaron,

Try running HTML Editor 2008 as administrator. Sometimes you need to do that once just to get Vista to behave.

I am running the HTML editor without any problems on my XP system.

Bill,

It is truly amazing how we don't try the most simple solution, thanks for the tip. I did exactly that and guess what, it worked! Thanks again!

Aaron,

Glad it worked. I have noticed several issues with Vista where the solution was to run as administrator. I read an article recently that focused on the problem. The article seemed to be faulting the software developers, but to me this seems to be a Microsoft issue.

Bill,
I appreciate all your help with this, I am an avid Vista hater, it is so crazy! Anyway, I am running HTML Editor2008 as Administrator and have found that the 'website software' button, which usually has a down arrow and allows you to choose which CC software program to use now just takes me to the CC homepage automatically. I have tested the issue with turning off the Run as Administrator and my old issue occurs where I am unable to publish to my working folder, but the dropdown menu from the 'website software' button works just fine. It is just the opposite when I turn the 'run as administrator' back on again. Any ideas??? Thanks so much once again!

Aaron,

The Website Software button should take you to the CoffeeCup website page that lists the CC software.

If you look next to the website software button, you should see an icon has three gears. That is the application button where you select other applications. They have removed the automatic listing of programs that are not included with the HTML Editor installation.

Thanks again, Bill

The button with the three gears, I know does have a list where you can manually place the other programs. I am curious however, that if CC took out the option to select the other programs automatically, why does Vista allow me to use that function when not using the program as an administrator? Just curious to know... Thanks!

Aaron,

The option to select additional programs is still available. The free FTP program is the only one that is included in the HTML editor installation. If you have other programs such as Photo Gallery, you can click on Tools, click on Preferences, then click on the Applications tab where you can add that program and remove/change applications. I have removed the free FTP, and have Direct FTP on my list.

As to why Vista does anything? As the radio used to say "Only the Shadow knows."

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
